Good Evening,

I'm just back from the range. The tumbler is cleaning my fired cases as I type.

I fired off 40 rounds loaded with 2000-MR and had good results. I shot 20 each in 7mm-08 and 257 Roberts, 100 yards, 4 groups of 5 rounds each with groups stepping up at .3 grain at a time. The groups got better as the charge went up and was most accurate for each at the listed max load. At max each group had 4 touching or covered by a quarter and 1 flyer (probably the shooter, lots of distractions at the range today). Velocity was slightly under listed for the 257 Roberts and significantly under for the 7mm-08, but still enough to turn Bambi into venison when given the chance.

The really nice thing was that this success with previously "difficult" bullets. I shot 87 grain Sierra Pro Hunters for the 257 Roberts and 145 grain Speer Hot Core (not the BTSP) for the 7mm-08. Previously I'd tried the Hornady Interlock 87 grain and the 145 grain Speer with a bunch of different powders and couldn't get anything to even resemble a group so this was a good day today.

I just wanted to share my experience and ask for others' experiences with the new-ish 2000-MR powder.

Dan

Sounds like a good powder. I'll be working up some 175 Sierras and 2000-MR in the 8x57 in a couple of weeks.
