Protesters locked inside Gulf-bound tanks
Anti-war protesters have broken into a military base and chained themselves to tanks and trucks awaiting transport to the Gulf. Fourteen Greenpeace volunteers entered Marchwood Military Ports, Southampton, at 7.45am. Ten managed to cut a hole in the perimeter fence and four more gained entry by sea, said a spokesman. The protesters have now either climbed inside tanks and closed the hatches or they have chained themselves to vehicles on the quayside.

Take 'em to the Gulf and park 'em in the front line. Good decoys.

The link takes you to a different story.
I agree, leave them there and use them as mine detectors once they get to the sand box.

Indeed. How do we know these idjits didn't sabotage any of the tanks?
I think arrest, an arraignment where no bond is set and subsequent trial is appropriate.

Weld the hatches shut and leave 'em. And fill the locks used by the others with Superglue or one of the high end Loctites. :cuss: 'em.

Those tanks are scheduled for deployment?
Deploy them.
2 months at sea without food, water, or facilities may show them the error of their ways.

Y'all're missin' the finer points to the Art of War.
Xfer to the Engineer Corps for mine-clearing, deploy as one of those high falutin' stringy-things .....
Whoops! there goes another one .... ;)
But I do just hafta ask. How is it (if true at all) these yahoos ever got there!?) Mayhaps our military security is as good as our borders, huh? (yeah, done that)
Futuristics aside, OK, & Oh well. They're there/here.
CS works pretty good. I'd say generate a field swarm over the area "just to make sure," ---- let it linger ...... bolt-cut these yahoos off-a our machinery & impound 'em - a la patriot act.
Give 'em a real feel of "democracy in action." .... what they've been crying about all along.
What's that phrase? "illegal non-combatants?"

I wax nostalgic with this thread as I envision one of the scenes in "The Road Warrior" with the folks strapped to the front of the bad boy buggies.

Let them containerize them vehicles and let the doofusses sit in their soiled garments and starve as the containers take the slow boat to Iraq. Give em sompin to think about, ie, their stupidity.

Mayhaps our military security is as good as our borders, huh?Not our security.
Greenpeace port protest did not breach security, says Navy
Anti-war campaigners chained themselves to tanks in a military port - but it was not a breach of security and will not be investigated, the Royal Navy said. About 14 protesters from the environment group Greenpeace got inside Marchwood Military Port on Southampton Water by boat. Three protesters also chained themselves to the entrance gates of the port, Greenpeace said.

WHAT THE...? This is insane! Do the brits not arm their soldiers, either? Forget this, just pop the hatches and frag 'em.

"Not our security."
Point taken, jmbg2 - didn't read the article posted, but I've run security breaches against our own (military) & we ain't so beyond criticism neither.
& besides, my posit regards our own border?
What matter we protect our military if we can't protect what they (military) are s'posed to defend?

I agree with the sentiment, but ya know that ain't gonna happen.
What CAN happen is to scare the bejeebus out of them by containerizing the tanks, and swimming them around the harbor for a day to 2.
Then have guys dressed as arabs speaking in Arabic unpack the tanks....

Pull the fire suppression handles (if the tanks are, or similar to, the M1A2), that'll solve the problem of squatters in the tanks.

If they broke into a military facility and entered secure equipment that hints towards sabotage. Now, is that sedition or treason when you sabotage your country's equipment to aid the enemy? That seems like a no-no.

Ok, funny protestor story.......
We had four young girls use titanium U shaped bike locks to secure themselves, by their little necks, to a chair in a congressmans office to protest some environmental issues.
Well, we let them "hang out" for about four hours before the lock smith got there to cut them loose. They were whining about how much it hurt and how they had to pee. :D
Oddly enough, the keys were located as the locksmith got out is drill with cutting blade to cut the locks off of their necks.
They then went to jail, with crooked necks and full bladders.
One of my favorite days in cop land. :D
We arrested the four of them and ten of their mentors (read as unemployed losers who seldom bathe) for trespassing.

Simple solution. Ship those tanks to Chile and let the protestors figure out how to get back home.

Yes, I've noticed that people who chain themselves to things seem to be expecting to be cut loose soon. I say we ignore them and I'm sure they'll get tired of it soon. With these folks, it doesnt seem to harmful to leave them attached to the harbor gates for a while.

We had a protestor chain herself to a commode and demand that we call the TV stations. The boss put me in charge because of my demonstrated sensitivity. I pointed out to her that she probably erred in thinking that WE would be calling the TV stations but that she was welcome to stay as long as she wanted. Then she told me she didn't have the key and could I call her son. I told her that I wouldn't do that. Wasn't too long before she just happened to find a key and she left.

The military should employ large, aggressive dogs in these fenced storage areas to deal with "protestors" that would commit acts of sabotauge.

No commanding officer would ever approve that. It might jeprodize his or her chance at a star.
I've got news for ya if you think stateside military insallations are even close to secure.
The gates? Maybe. Everywhere else? Not a chance in.....well, you know.

no they don't arm soldiers guarding the military port. Or the police either, if there are any. More likely it has been put out to private 'security' guards - who are never armed here.

"Sir, no Sir! I was unaware of the presence of the screaming protesters suffocating in toxic fire suppression chemicals, however I did smell smoke and took appropriate measures as trained, Sir!"
