hello all,
I just took delivery of a Budapest hungarian M1895 carbine. the left side of the receiver has had a grinder taken to it.

the century etching goes right through it. was that done by the century bastards to make the etching more legible or was this done after a capture?

It is very highly doubtful that it was done by Century.

I can't think of any other explanation.
the serial number was ignored and if all other marks were as deep as the serial then there is no way that the amount that was removed was deep enough to remove any markings. all grinding is right where the laser etching is.

They probably screwed up the serial number/import marking and needed to do it again.
