I was wondering if anyone has comparison pics of, or can describe the grip characteristics of an FNX-45 vs. some other common service sized guns?

From pics and videos, it seems like the grip size and (more importantly since I have wide hands with short fingers) trigger reach aren't excessive. Tried looking at a couple of LGS, but they didn't have any in stock to look at in person. I get the impression that it's similar to a full sized XD .45.

Not sure what you consider a "common" service size grip, but our FN FNS-45 has a grip I'd call very comfortable. My wife complained about the "aggressive" checkering so I installed a Hogue Handall. Even with that, the grip is very nice. My hands are rather broad and my fingers somewhat short; I generally wear XL/XXL gloves. Length of trigger pull is a non issue.

But, my Glock Gen2 model 20 likewise feels fine in my hand and it too has a Hogue Handall.

We also have an XDm-45 3.8. With the larger capacity magazine and the magazine sleeve it appears to be the same size and shape as a full size. But to me the naked FN grip feels slimmer. And of course, the FNS and the FNX may be different.

Predicting how a gun will feel to you is like predicting how a certain size shoe will fit. You got to go try them on.

Common service sized guns: 1911, full-sized Glocks, Beretta 92/M9, S&W M&P, Springfield XD. Guns that are full service sized guns, not compacts or subcompacts and that are common enough to give a frame of reference.

Thanks.

Good call on the shoe analogy, but if it's something that's like a clown shoe, for instance, I know not to waste gas looking for one to try on. =)

I just picked one up the other day. The grip is large, yes, but not at all uncomfortable even with the larger backstrap, and I do not have particularly large hands. I think that the fit to my hand is just about perfect. I have included 2 pictures comparing the size to a regular 1911

I would say mine is very close to the feel of the HK USP and as the pictures above show, much larger than the 1911 but then its a single stack.
