Impressions/Opinions wanted for S&W 619

September 19, 2013, 11:32 AM
I haven't seen a thread in the last few years after searching the forum so I'll start a new one because I would like updated information.

I just won an auction on GB for a 619 L-frame 7 shot that appears very clean from the provided photos. I haven't received the gun yet, I paid $431 for it. I am looking for anyone else who has this gun and am seeking their impression of it. Photo's would also be welcome if you feel like sharing.

The auction is over and I paid what I paid, there is no going back, however do you think this was a fair price the gun?

Thanks in advance

Don't have one, but sorry. I wouldn't give 200 for it. IMO only.

If it is in nice shape, I would say the price is just fine for an L frame smith. If I am correct, this is essentially a 686 + without the full underlug and adjustable sights?

If I saw the gun locally for that price, I might face an internal struggle before walking away.

They have a 2-Piece barrel, which has since been deleted.

I don't see anything wrong with that price for a good L frame.
I don't know if there was anything wrong with the 2 piece barrel, or not.
I assume that's the barrel that looked like a Dan Wesson barrrel from the front.
Barrel threaded into frame, and then had a shroud held on with a barrel nut, or something like that?
Or was it a barrel shroud that was held on by the barrel threaded into the frame?
Like a Dan Wesson, with the barrel nut made as part of the barrel?

To me, it looks like a model 64, but built on an L frame.
I like it.

You'd probably get more information if you post you question on the Smith & Wesson forum.

There is no barrel nut. Apparently there were problems, but I don't recall what they were.

I bought a M619 about 7 years ago and I foolishly sold it a few years later. It was an extremely accurate revolver and I did like the 7th round. I should never have sold it but at the time I needed the money to finance another purchase. The M619 is the fixed sight L frame replacement for the K frame M65. You are going to rally like that revolver IMO. BTW, those Uncle Mike's round-to-square grips make shooting very comfortable even with hot loads...

I think the price is very fair
