My Uncle swears by the stuff and sent me a bottle of it. He uses it for cleaning the bores and lubing the actions. I'll be giving it a shot in my Winchester and Mossberg 500 in the near future.

Anyone else use the stuff?

I've used it for years and it's my preferred lubricant.

+1 on Ballistol. I use it primarily for black powder, but for my other guns too. Normally I clean with a 1:7-10 mix of Ballistol and water (it emulsifies). This is really good at getting off crud and carbon. Then I lube with pure Ballistol, and wipe it down with a paper towel. Best if used outside, as there is an odor.

I am trying to like Ballistol as much as others seem to. I keep trying it in different applications. It stinks pretty badly, and I cannot seem to get over that. And I have used some other cleaner/lubes that work just as well or better that don't stink, or even smell kinda nice.

Ballistol has some pH buffering that many other gun oils do not have. It also seems to be okay for wood stocks, which many other gun oils injure. It does smell, and it does have some vegetable oil in the mix, besides mineral oil. I have changed to ATF, which seems very similar in lubricating ability. Both 'stick' better to exterior gun surfaces than a lot of the lighter finer products. Both are very good for lubrication between surfaces. I have a lifetime supply of ATF and it has worked well for me. I used one bottle of Ballistol over years and it worked well for me.
