Back with CZ

I took the plunge and ordered a NIB CZ75B from the fine folks at Damascus Gun Shop. They shipped super fast to my FFL, and I got to pick it up today.

Some observations on newest production CZs:

They no longer come in a small blue plastic box with an outer cardboard box. Now they ship in a larger plastic box that holds the pistol more securely. The mags are packed in a separate compartment built into the box.

CZs no longer come dripping packing grease from every pore. Now they have a light coating that makes clean up a lot easier.

The polycoat looks more evenly applied and there are less visible machining marks compared to previous CZs I've examined. Maybe it's just one and not a trend, but this CZ looks pretty sharp.

The barrels are no longer left unfinished or finished in black oxide, instead they have a silvery gray finish, not sure what it's called.

The safety is a bit smaller exposing ever so slightly the safety cutout on the frame. See the reference picture I attached. It doesn't affect function one bit, but it's interesting to note the change.

They still pack a test target, computerized as it's been for a few years, but they also include a warranty certificate stamped with the names of inspectors. I had not seen this type of certificate previously.

And the biggest change of all, gone is the curved magazine brake. Apparently they're now using flat magazine brakes because empty magazines drop free.

Now if only I could find time to hit the range.

I've been more inpressed with CZ than nearly any other gun manufacturer. They are a solid gun with few brands that can beat them. YMMV

My 75B just keeps on going , doesn't have to be tuned or fiddled with. Great gun.

Got a chance to visit the range today. This CZ's amazing, incredibly accurate, smooth and reliable to a fault (hope I don't jinx myself). I was with a friend who's an experienced marksman and he was amazed by its accuracy.

The trigger's also getting a lot smoother. I was a little concerned about the recurved trigger because I had only dry fired one a couple of times, but it's hardly noticeable.

CZ75Bs sure have gotten a lot more expensive since the days when they sold for $349, now they sell for anywhere from $478 to $530, but when you consider the workmanship, quality of materials and accuracy, they're still very competitively priced.

Great guns for sure. Good choice my friend.

Congratulations! The CZ 75 is as much of a classic as the Browning Hi Power.

Would love to have a CZ75. But I really want a PO9 Duty. 19+1 and the ability to mount a light seem's perfect for HD.

I was fortunate to get a CZ P-09 and it really is one the best pistols I've owned. Right up there next to my target SP-01. Amazing quality of CZ products. I may have to sell some of my current stuff to fund more [like a 75 Compact]!
