My steel shooting bench....

I originally built this bench to be used outdoors. It did serve it's purpose for a couple of years. It now resides indoors.

Wanting to make a portable, one size fits all and all weather bench this is what I came up with. It has accommodated right and left handed shooters from 4ft-6'8'' tall with simply adjusting the seat.

It's probably in the 250lb neighborhood with it's all steel construction. The top is 3/8" steel plate and is 4ftx4ft. I am a left handed shooter but decided to make it for both righty's and lefties. It's roomy enough to allow all sorts of accessories to be handy. I came up with a unique adjustable seat feature to fit all sizes of shooter, from the smallest to the largest. It uses a Bulldog jack commonly used with trailers to raise and lower the tongue. To use you just spin the seat clockwise or counter clockwise. The seat assembly pivots on a hinge allowing easy access in and out. Later on I made it where a spotting scope mounts in the middle so the use of a tripod isn't needed. The top is covered with a indoor/outdoor ,carpet to keep things from rolling off and when outside to keep the top cool. While not truly portable in the sense of the word I now move it around my shop easily with a pallet jack.

Here are some pictures........

Here's a short video I made that explains it. Sorry about the image quality as my camera decided to focus on the tractor instead of the bench.:(
