Weird forearm on Wingmaster?

The instructions I found for removing the wood altogether:

Look at the front of the forearm and see the large nut there. Using the Remtool or just a set of needlenose pliers inserted in the notches, unscrew the nut and se it aside. Slide the wood off.

I don't see a nut, though. This is a pretty old WM. Am I missing something?

The nut is a ring around the action-tube with two square notches. It's not a hex nut.
