Good to see that one out of the gene pool! I sure hope you don't plan to eat that nasty thing though.....

Wow that thing is huge. On a sidenote, why so many scope rings on her gun? Did you have problems with it sliding under recoil with just 2? Im not judging - Ive just never seen that setup before, so Im curious.

Wow. A pig with dreadlocks! I've never seen that before.

Are those scope rings are good enough to merit a second pair, or what's going on there?

A 7 TCU doesn't kick at all. Must be a too small scope or a bunch of rings that are too large .

Got a 10" 7mm TCU barrel I've not used since I was shooting IHMSA with it. But, my .30-30 from a 12" barrel ain't broke. :D

Big pig. I'd eat the little one and have that big, fugly head mounted for the wall. :D Buzzards probably won't mind eating the rest.

I could not keep the scope from slipping in the rings with one set, so I added a second set and lightly dusted the bottom halves of the rings with rosin. That scope has not moved since....

That hog did not smell near as bad as what we thought it would...

The small piggy went on the grill and the big hog will be ground and made into sausage....

Firstly congrats to your wife on an awesome pig.

Dude you gotta get that scope sorted, a set of decent fitting blued rings will make a huge difference to the performance and then appearance. You say there is no recoil, this makes it a big problem as 6 rings to hold a scope when there is no recoil? It is a question of time before the scope moves again and it will probably be on a hunt.

Must be nice to live in a state where you can hunt with a real rifle. Yes, that's jealousy talking. :)

I picked up over 110 lbs. of sausage from our game processor yesterday. He showed me the hide they skinned off that 500 lb. hog, and amazingly, those two bullets passed completely through, with exit holes as big as a quarter...

Here are a couple of pictures of the skull we got back...

This hog was very healthy and still growing! There is no telling just how big he would have gotten....

That was a PROPER feral hog! Amazing what a 7mm bullet at medium velocity will do in the penetration department. There was another guy who discovered the same in regards to a 7mm bullet at medium velocity and deep penetration about 110 years ago in Africa.;)

I dunno about some of the criticism. I think the stainless muzzle brake and stainless rings set off the black perfectly, and if four sets of split loop rings obviously work, I would not change it. If anyone says anything, flash a snapshot of that trophy skull!

Nice. Thanks for the pic and the info that it was good eating ground. With spices sausage is probably a good choice.

"Amazing what a 7mm bullet at medium velocity will do in the penetration department."

I recalled the old 1956 movie "The Sharkfighters" about development of a shark repellant; while Victor Mature was in the water with the sharks testing a shark repellant, a sailor armed with an M1 Carbine stood guard. At the time I would have preferred an M1 Garand in .30-06. I have since found out (thanks to Mythbusters) that a FMJ bullet at 2700 feet per second (.30-06) hitting water acts like it hit a concrete wall and fragments without penetrating much, but slower bullets hitting water hold together and penetrate deeper. The myth being tested was the claim that diving 3 feet underwater would protect you from a strafing aircraft (confirmed).

Also, Hatcher's Notebook gives penetartion in wood of .30-06 at various ranges; deepest penetration, as I recall, started at 200 yds when the bullet was slower and less likely to deform.

Thank you Carl...

I don't care what others think about this set-up. I put it together for my wife and she enjoys it. One big hog and literally dozens of deer, all one-shot-kills, even though she did put a second bullet in that hog for added insurance. What's there not to like....

H&Hhunter - like the other guy discovered in Africa, exact bullet placement is key, to dropping any animal in the world, regardless of size....
