I bought one of these:

And tried it on my Bushnell Elite scope.

I brushed the dust off the lenses first and then used the rubber "foot" to collect the thin film of dirt remaining on the lenses. Wiped the foot off on a clean lint free napkin between passes.

It works very well, a good cleaning accessory in my opinion!

Lens pens are great I carry one with me while hunting.

Lens coatings are expensive you don't want to damage your rifle scope by scratching the lens with your shirt!

For less than $20 you are able to clean your scope without causing damage to the lens:

they make large and very small versions as well. Leupold puts their name on the large one. and Schmidt & Bender's cleaning kit includes one that is about the diameter of a mechanical pencil and maybe 2 inches long.

i like them.

Lenspen is the original but many other makers have picked up on similar designs. They can easily be picked up at non gun stores as well, usually in the camera section. Cheap and small enough to have one stored away anywhere, just in case you are caught without one and need it.
