Trying to find out the value on am 1858 Ames musician or NCO sword I'm not quite sure. If it is the musician sword there were only 600 made in 1858. Depending on the value I would be interested in selling it. The right side of the blade is stamped US above ADK above 1858,the left side is stamped AMES mfg co. Chicopee Mass. The right side of the handguard is stamped ADK and the left is stamped W.A.J Thanks HDG

After looking further it looks to be an NCO sword

Look through these. http://www.angelfire.com/wa/swordcollector/marks/page1.html http://www.angelfire.com/wa/swordcollector/marks/59ammus.jpg

Considering the good condition, but missing scabbard, $300-$400 if everything is tight for an NCO sword from the War of Northern Aggression/War Between the States/Civil War.

Definitely a Model 1840 NCO. You mention the date "1858". Is the Made By / Ames MFG Co / Chicopee Mass logo in a scroll / banner configuration?
