The fall weather is beautiful here.Blue skies,no wind,70 degrees.I packed a lunch and took 3 rifles to the range.Tuesdays are usually quiet there.I had the place to myself for about 3 hours and another hour with 1 other shooter.I sighted in 2 .243's and a 50 cal. flintlock.I spent alot of time on my old Model 70 at 100 and 200 yards.Muzzleloader season opens Saturday and next week old geezers like me can use centerfire rifles for 3 days of doe hunting.

SO nice to go shooting when there is nobody around. Good luck on your hunt!

I need to sight in one of mine, and I dread the crowd that's typically there this close to modern gun season. Glad you didn't have to.

Today I found a buck scrape on a wide deer trail.Tomorrow is the opening day of muzzleloader season for does only.I have a flintlock sighted in at 50 yards.I prepared a hide on the ground 30 yards from the scrape.I hope a doe shows up and the gun goes off.

I missed a doe monday at 10am.I was walking back to the truck on the main trail when a doe lifted her head out of the brush.I tried for the throat patch/chest area. She jumped onto the trail in front of me and ran a long distance.I followed her and found no blood. With the flintlock its one shot.I used to hunt northern Franklin County in Horse Valley until the property was sold.

Nice one! I had a buck walk up behind me last evening. Just sitting in a fencerow waiting for the deer to come out and feed. Suddenly a BIG snort and grunt about 5 yards behind me. Scared the living crap outa me. :)

On Friday evening,I was pinned down by two who came in behind me as I sat against a dead fallen pine tree. They stood and stomped until I slowly turned my head. Then they took off.Yesterday,I set up 200 yards away across a field and watched that area. They came out at 5:55.I shot the largest one.She jumped and ran up into the woods with her tail up.I waited 15 minutes and went looking. There was no blood in the open woods.I scanned left and right for 80 yards until I found her.A high lung shot.About 130 lbs.
