Hey all.

I called up the NRA the other day to renew and the guy on the phone told me that they have a special, two years for $50, compared to the yearly price of $35, so you save $20.

Just thought I'd share the info about the special and tell everyone that I renewed. Have you joined the NRA?

(Please don't let this turn into another "the NRA sucks because they don't do enough" thread... )

Hey that's a good deal!
but - I'm good till 2005 :p

I joined the NRA when I was 15 or 16 and intend on staying with it forever; I write it off as an expense of owning a firearm.

That is a good deal. I'm on the fast track to EPL myself, but thanks for the info.

I'm with you Nick - don't want to devolve into an "NRA - pro or con?" discussion, but my view is that gun owners have somewhat of an obligation to join... as a way of protecting the rights we hold so dear.

Just renewed before going into the last gun show... normally it is free entry after renewal for $10 off so $25, but last time there was no free entry, just two 50 round boxes of .22 LR ammo.

The NRA sucks because they don't do enough to tell you about specials...

I renewed online for 1 year about 2 weeks ago. If the special was on the website I definitely overlooked it.

I think that you can renew 'early' they just tack on the additional time to your current membership. So if your membership doesn't expire until 2005, if you signed up for two years now, your membership wouldn't expire until 2007.

You know, even if you hate the NRA, it isn't a bad idea to fork over $25 for a year of membership during an election year. Nothing says "keep your hands off my guns" to politicians like soaring NRA membership numbers in an election year.

If I remember correctly, if you sign up or renew your membership at the NRA range in Fairfax, the cost is $25 per year. A good deal to take advantage of if you're in the area. Of course, the money you save and more will just go towards getting in some range time. :D
