Glock 26, I like it because I can use 19 and 17 mags in it.

November 3, 2013, 02:22 PM
German P226. No contest.

November 3, 2013, 02:23 PM
Browning Hi Power with the second being a toss up between the CZ-75, and HK P7.

November 3, 2013, 02:25 PM

1) Browning Hi-Power
2) Kahr PM9
3) SIG P229R E2
4) CZ P-01
5) Steyr M9

November 3, 2013, 03:36 PM
It's really hard for me to name just one but here goes my very top favorites in order though they are all very close. It is good to have choices!

Ruger P85. Looks like a brick, shoots like a dream.

November 3, 2013, 03:40 PM
My favorite is the Browning Hi-Power, but my money is on the Glock 17 for the win

November 3, 2013, 03:42 PM
HK P7M8, very closely followed by a West German Sig 228, and then a West German Sig 226.

November 3, 2013, 03:47 PM
No question in my mind; I've tried a lot and these are what feel good:

1) Colt Combat Commader
2) S&W 3913/908

They aren't piggy large for the caliber in my opinion, and they shoot nicely, balance, and conceal well. The S&W doesn't have the finest trigger, but it's a great, simple, practical design.

My favorite 9mm of all time:

November 3, 2013, 03:56 PM

November 3, 2013, 04:08 PM
No Walther P88 or S&W 39 or Sig P210?

I only own a Walther P38, Glock 19 and a Ruger SR9c, so my experience is limited.

November 3, 2013, 04:23 PM
They are too young to remember 39 few can afford 210 and most never heard of P88 (these were $1200+ in late 80s so almost nobody bought one).

Nine's I'd like to try.... Sig P226.

November 3, 2013, 07:14 PM
Hi Point C9
It's not the prettiest, coolest or have many accessory options, but it's the handgun i shoot most accurately with and it's proven to be reliable and easy to maintain.

November 3, 2013, 07:20 PM

OK....my upcoming Beretta Px4 Storm Subcompact. But until it gets here this week my favorite is my Glock 26.

November 3, 2013, 07:25 PM
STI Trojan ,very sweet shooting pistol .In line next would be my CZ 75 and last but not least a Beretta 92fs I enjoy shooting 9's they offer enough snap for fun range time while still somewhat affordable

November 3, 2013, 07:37 PM
Well the Cz 75 is a sweet gun and shoots great that would be my range choice.
But all around would have to be a shield my next gun.It will replace my cw9.
no I don't have one yet.

November 3, 2013, 07:51 PM
Springfield EMP, a carry gun I look forward to practicing with.

November 3, 2013, 08:29 PM
CZ75, particularly the SP-01, and stainless models.

November 3, 2013, 08:45 PM
1) CZ P-01
2) XDm 4.5
3) Beretta Storm

November 3, 2013, 08:51 PM
FN Hi Power - nothing else for me to say.

November 3, 2013, 08:52 PM
Browning Hi-Power!

November 3, 2013, 09:01 PM
The P7, P5, P210, & 952.

Carry a G26 everyday because it makes more sense as a CCW pistol, but the others are my favorites.

S&W 1911,CZ 75 b

November 3, 2013, 09:40 PM
I'll admit I haven't shot a lot of them. I've shot a couple Beretta M92FSs and a Taurus clone. Never cared for the Italian pistol. But I love my Glock 19. It's smaller, lighter, and simpler than the 92, but has the same firepower. Mine has been 100% reliable, has a better trigger than any 92 I've ever shot or handled, and doesn't have the bass-ackwards slide-mounted upswept safety.

I like the CZs. A P-07 Duty is at the top of the very short list of non-Glock 9mms I want, the other being that new SAO Sig P226.

November 3, 2013, 09:46 PM
CZ75-P01. I also have a shield. It's ok. No CZ.

November 3, 2013, 09:54 PM
Well, my personal favorite is the Beretta 92FS...because that's what I have.

I'd LOVE to own a Walther P-38 and a Browing Hi Power.

November 3, 2013, 11:06 PM
I'm going along S&W Model 59

I've owned a couple of SIG's, a couple of M&P's, a KelTec, ...

This one is the "house gun", and until Connecticut got stupid about magazine capacity, it was a pretty regular carry pistol

November 3, 2013, 11:15 PM
Glock 19, still the best shooter I own. And I would take one over any 9mm on the market. But there are plenty of other good ones. It's just to me the 19 is the best combination of size, comfort, reliability, simplicity, accuracy, with concealibility if you need it.

November 3, 2013, 11:18 PM
HK P7 hands down.

November 4, 2013, 12:40 AM
Walther PPS.

November 4, 2013, 05:28 AM
Tough choice! It would be either my HK P30S or my Browning Hi-Power. As they are now the P30S probably wins. If I ever have the coin to send my BHP to C&C to get some work done (add beavertail, etc) then the BHP might edge out the P30S.

For me definitely the Browning Hi Power, but lately I have really been enjoying my new Zastava CZ05 or aka the EZ9. Both are crazy accurate and easy to shoot!

November 5, 2013, 06:51 AM
My two favorite 9mm are my CZ 75D PCR and EAA Elite Match. Both are fine shooting handguns.

November 5, 2013, 07:52 AM
Hands down my favorite is my SA XDM9 (4.5" barrel)

November 5, 2013, 08:34 AM
The best shooting and most dependable 9mm I own is a Hi Point C9 I bought for less than $100 a few years ago. Everyone always laughs until they run a few mags through it and then they invariably look at the gun and laugh again. LEO's are the worst because they consider them to be "ugly ghetto guns" but they all like the way this one shoots. I had a Sheriff's deputy that was having trouble with a his Glock and he fell in love with the Hi Point until he found out how many rounds it holds. It is an awesome shooter and, aside from some issues with a new magazine that I had to work on, has been flawless. It is big, ugly and holds ridiculously few rounds for it's size but it does what every firearm should do and that is go bang every time.
My favorite that I own is a CZ. Beautiful and smooth. The best I ever shot was a Browning Hi Power but I don't actually own one of those.

November 5, 2013, 09:01 AM
CZ 75. I have 3. Well made, reliable and accurate.

November 5, 2013, 09:27 AM
Walther P99AS.

I'm not yet aware of any polymer-framed striker-fired pistol whose ergonomics, reliability, or trigger feel can top this design.

November 5, 2013, 10:04 AM
pretty much any CZ 75 variant.

November 5, 2013, 10:57 AM
I think I'll toss a good SR9 into the mix. Sure it ain't a Sig, but I enjoy it a lot. It's a fun handgun.

November 5, 2013, 05:17 PM
S&W 39...or 59

November 5, 2013, 05:36 PM
Let's see. I've owned a Star "Starlight", an S&W M39, another Smith but can't remember the model, several 1911s and two Browning Hi Powers. The one I still is one of the High Powers. This pistol fits me and I really enjoy shooting it.

Beretta 92/M9.

Specifically, a late 80's to mid 90's Italian-made 92FS with 100% metal parts and a "D" main spring installed. Extra points for wear marks in all the right places.

November 5, 2013, 06:43 PM
S&W 940 because in severe circumstances it can be fired from inside pocket w/o being taken out.

November 5, 2013, 08:23 PM
Beretta M9/92FS . Browning Hi Power, Sig P226 and P229 . all of these are excellent choices IMHO

Glock 19, still the best shooter I own. And I would take one over any 9mm on the market. But there are plenty of other good ones. It's just to me the 19 is the best combination of size, comfort, reliability, simplicity, accuracy, with concealibility if you need it.

Bingo. Closely followed by my G26. However, a S&W 3913 still rocks, if you can find one.

November 5, 2013, 09:44 PM
After thirty-plus years, and a dozen or more 9mm handguns (including a G19), I am down to an "only" 9mm....my Kahr PM9.
Currently considering a Kimber Solo or a Rohrbaugh...but not in a big hurry.
The PM9 has been serving me well for almost nine years now, and it really isn't broke...

Of course, if I still had my HK P7M13, I probably would not have sold it. But regrets are a dime a dozen....and honestly, it was not a viable carry pistol. Just a "keeper" handgun.

November 6, 2013, 09:38 AM
Tough decision, many choices. There are several Sigs, FNs, and HKs I want, but its hard to beat the Glock 17 for reliability, accuracy, and fairly cheap cost. The others mentioned are far more expensive, and are worth it in my own opinion, but the Glocks 17, (26 and 19 also) are tough to beat for the $$$.

Very interesting thread. It's great to hear we have so many great 9 mms out there! I have only owned 3 9mms. Nothing wrong with the Beretta 92F but my son talked me out of it and traded me a Glock 36 .45. I'm happy with it.
First pick is my Glock 26
http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad154/vanpeltrk/0312130940.jpg (http://s931.photobucket.com/user/vanpeltrk/media/0312130940.jpg.html)

They are both reliable, accurate easily concealed. The Glock will take a bigger variety of mags. I have 10, 12 17. The Kahr is 7 or 8. The take down is simpler for the Glock. I like the Kahr with the CT laser. I also like the fact that both can use the same IWB Kydex holster, which my son made me.

CZ75B Compact.

My 75 compact is the first CZ I bought and it lead to many more CZ pistols, but my 75 compact is still my favorite.

November 6, 2013, 10:13 PM

CZ 75 BD Police

Loved the Browning High Power but not fond of the "Cock n Lock" carry. The BD natural aim, accurate, dependable, feels great in my hand just like the BHP, allows DA carry and a decocker to safely lower the hammer afterwards. There is only a couple things that I can say I wish were different.

Those things are its' serrated trigger which after a 100 or so rounds found my trigger finger was getting raw so I found a smooth combat trigger for it and am currently having it installed. The second things is the empties on mine when they eject like to bounce off my forehead :cuss:

Other then those two things a great pistol

November 6, 2013, 10:17 PM
STI Edge - Tight build yet a slide so smooth it feels like it's running on ball bearings, crisp 2.5lb trigger with no over travel, recoil like a .22, and oh so very accurate. Great competition gun and a fun range gun. Easily my favorite gun in my stable.:D

November 6, 2013, 10:19 PM
I would pick my P226 or my 92FS.
Their are plenty to chose from but those are my favorites.

November 6, 2013, 10:22 PM
To echo Aomagrat, a Ruger P85, and to echo GJSchulze, SA XDm, in 5.25. Love the Ruger, but it needs work due to excessive spring fatigue from use (5k rounds in 3 years) followed by 15+ years of neglect. Or I could be projecting my accuracy issues onto it.

November 7, 2013, 12:30 AM
It was my CZ P-01 for years...

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b13/armoredman/CZ%20posters/Everydaytools.jpg (http://s16.photobucket.com/user/armoredman/media/CZ%20posters/Everydaytools.jpg.html)

And that pistol rides my side today, every day. But alas...now I have another contender, so these two duke it out regularly.

Has anyone ever had the "Bruniton" crap taken off a Beretta, and had one nicely blued? I've seen a few limited run Beretta's that were bright blued, and they looked quite nice.

Yeah, they aren't very common. I love the blued finish and rounded trigger guard, both of which are long gone today.

Hi Power. P226 a fairly close second.

November 8, 2013, 10:16 AM
A few years back I decided that even though I am a revolver lover,,,
I wanted to own just one high quality 9mm Semi-auto pistol.

I belong to a very nice Rifle & Pistol club,,,
Many of the members allowed me to shoot their 9-mils.

Seeing as how I was in no hurry to purchase one for myself,,,
I also went to a range and rented several more guns.

I shot all of the major brands such as Sig, Glock, S&W, and even Browning,,,
I also shot many of the second tier guns such as the EAA imports,,,
Then one day a gentleman placed a CZ-75B in my hands,,,
One mag later I knew my search was over.

When he handed it to me,,,
Angelic music wafted through the morning air,,,
The clouds parted and a warm ray of sunshine bathed my hand,,,
The initial sensation was akin to shaking hands with a dear old acquaintance.

The pistol levitated my hand to a perfect angle,,,
I addressed the target and the bullets flew to the center,,,
The recoil of the Czech lady was like a gentle caress to my tired old hands.

Needless to say I hit The Evil Pawn Shop at the first opportunity,,,
I placed my order for the 9mm and the .22 LR Kadet,,,
Now I have what I consider to be the finest 9mm,,,
And a rimfire companion for inexpensive plinking.

The CZ-75B may not be every man's ideal pistol,,,
But I find it to be perfect for me.

Anyone in the market for a full size duty weapon,,,
Would be doing themselves a favor to handle one of these beauties.

Well written! Also that Kadet pistol is now a collectible, as they have been discontinued. The Kadet Kit 2 itself is still around, but the full gun is not.

Just got my Beretta Px4 subcompact in 9mm last night. Cleaned and lubed, shot 50 rounds before taking it home. My Wife has not shot it yet but likes the way it points and presents much better than the Glock 26 that was our favorite child up till now.

Hands down, the Storm sc is now our favorite 9mm

First and Foremost is my Hi-Power. It shoots and shoots and shoots, never jams or fails to eject and no matter what ammo I use.

A close second is my 9 X 18 Makarov. Again, just a consistant shooter and can handle all I can give.

Currently...CZ p-01.

The trigger felt too good to resist. It has a bit more take up in sa and da than I'd like, but not terribly noticeable when actually shooting it. The trigger reset is crisp enough that I know when to stop so I don't let it out all the way, but I'd still like to get rid of the take up and lighten it up a bit. I went to buy an STI Spartan in 9mm, but it was sold so this followed me home.

Glock 17, followed by the Glock 19. I've said this before, but here it is again . . . "Hi-Powers are seldom seen at my range. Nor CZ's. But, more CZ's than Hi-Powers. Mostly plastic pistols, led by Glock. 1911s of all descriptions. A lot of Ruger (DAs & SAs) .22s, but not as many as before the "GREAT" ammo shortage." Heck, I've seen more Kahrs than Hi-Powers. They get a bad rap, but Taurus is selling a lot of pistols.

I still can't understand why S&W discontinued these terrific 3rd Generation guns; they should bring back the 5903 and make it a Performance Center gun.

Hey, Armoredman, I've always been a huge fan of the CZ-75 and the CZ-75 C and PCR ... Still kicking myself for trading off a satin nickel CZ-75 a few years ago (what was I thinking?). A NIB bright nickel or bright stainless CZ-75 is on my must-buy list, but no one's givin' 'em up these days ...

Steyr M9-A1. I own many different 9 mm's, but this is the one that I shoot the best.

Favorites full sized:

Astra A-100. I've never had a bad Astra gun, and the A-100 I recently sold was very cheap and 100% reliable. Made nearly 100% profit on it when I sold it!
Beretta 92FS, really regret selling it, so smooth.
Tanfoglio "Mossad", a few scratches on it, and messed up grips, but it shoots great. A little sandpaper and varnish will have it looking real good.
Sig 226, shot a friends, have wanted one since.
CZ SP-01, wished they made it in SS.
S&W 5906, one of the greats.

Astra A-75, great all steel little gun.
CZ PO1-It's just right.
Tanfoglio "Mossad", same as it's big brother, some scratches, and the grips are better than on the big one. It shoots as good as the P01 in every way.
S&W 3913, I wish I had kept it. Made too much money on it not to sell it.

Not only are you a SIG fan but a CZ fan as well...done, sir! Would choose a West German P228 as my #1 9mmP as they are incredibly-engineered, incredibly-reliable, high-capacity pistols with superior metallurgy and internal fit&finish.

That said, my CZ BD PCR is almost as accurate as my 9mm SIGs [so close!] and really easy to carry, usually in the same leather holsters.

I've tried to adopt a later model H&K many, many times...but just can't get over that trigger flex. Drives me nuts trying to compensate and hope for a clean break.

That said, when working on my property, my carry most of the time is a P-11 Kel-Tec with nearly 3k round thru it. Has been imminently reliable...and if something untoward happens [that is, if it's lost during bush-hogging] it has paid its fare many times over.

Would very much like to see someone start a similar thread dedicated to .357SIG...could be the ultimate pistol caliber ever developed in the intermediate bore.

I have a Glock 19 that I've treated like a red headed mule. It shoots and I wouldn't care if it fell down a flight of concrete stairs. It was born ugly.
I don't own one but I always thought the CZ's were beautiful. One day I may treat myself to one. But for now I'll keep beating the bag off of my Glockenstein.

Gun Master,
Although that P-38 and holster were manufactured in 44 the holster is not original to that pistol. The pistol is my Dad's bring back, the holster I found on ebay.

When I got it from Dad the firing pin in it was wrong and the decocker was worn out and had issues of the slam fire type but I've corrected that stuff. It's a reliable once a year shooter for me now.

You know, while I am not deeply in love with CZ pistols, having shot a couple I will happily agree that they are good guns. With that said, and conceding its maybe a regional quirk or just my own luck, I rarely see them out on the range or in holsters. I don't really get that, but it's true.

Probably just me, but I have wondered about that more than once.
