Can someone give me some info on this pistol? On the left side there were two patent dates I am doing this from memory 1902 an 1912?, the pony and Hartford Conneticut. On the right side the serial # 77911xx and Model 1911 Army. I would say its about 90% whats it worth? Thanks for the help.
Mike

A good answer to your questions will require more information. It would seem that what you're looking at is a Colt Government Model, Cal. 45, Model 1911. However it could be a Colt slide on someone else's frame. If it is an "Army gun" the frame should be marked "United States Property." The serial number you cited is far above the total number made by Colt. The last one was 2,368,781.
How is it finished? Blue? Parkerized? Grips: walnut or plastic?

It has wooden grips and its blued. The slide is marked with the pony and the stuff I mentioned. The only marking I saw on the frame was the serial on the right side. How can you tell if its a colt frame? And how can I find out more about this pistol. I have a chance to buy but I am ignorant about colts
