Anybody have experience with the Bushnell First Strike or TRS-25?

Considering one of these, just not sure which one to go with. The First Strike is smaller, lighter, but a little more expensive ($125-$87). 5moa dot vs. 3 in the TRS-25.

Anything better for similar money?

Who's got an opinion?

Haven't tried the first strike, but I'm not a fan of bigger dots, regardless of the application. I have a TRS-25, and I love it for both target/plinking and rabbit hunting. Mine was $75 new on Amazon. I've heard really good things about Vortex's red dots, which are only a little more.

I've used the TRS-25 oth indoors and out. Plenty of brightness settings for both.
Matter of fact, the brightness scale is well regulated and very useful.
Wanna shoot fast? Crank it up. Precision? Not a problem. Turn it down.

The TRS is VERY flexible. Can't speak about the strike fire but have two TRS RDS with no complaints. They are an excellent value. You get a lot for you money.

Thanks to all!

Ordered the TRS-25 last night.

Didn't care for a couple of features about the First Strike. No on-off switch for dot, only goes off when you put it's "hood" back on, and since it sets the brightness level itself, in low or no light, it won't light up at all.

Bo,

That's right purdy!

You're in Indy? I grew up in Anderson.

Put a TRS-25 on a Hi-Point 9mm carbine about a year or two ago, and that still shoots poa to poi. Nice little Red Dot and reasonably priced.

Just got the TRS-25 and mounted it. There is a flat spot visible in the rear lens as you look through it, about from the 3 o'clock to the 6 o'clock position. What looks like a small, shiny, black piece of plastic is visible inside the scope in that area.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Thanks

No, that's not normal, send it back, and let them know about it. I'm sure they will send you a new one, however they seem to take forever; at least that is my experience with them.

This is the view I'm getting through the scope, and the piece visible inside.
