I have the opportunity to buy a generation 3 S&W 910s for $390. Looks good, about 98%. Only 1 mag, no original box. Any personal experiences?
Research on Internet tells me most People seem please with them.
Please School me on information that is not available on Internet.
Regards.

I had a 915 - same gun, different number - for many years and regret selling it. It was a solid performer, accurate and reliable.

$390 seems a little high to me, but not terrible. I'd see if I could talk the seller down a little.

ALL ! # 1,2, and 3rd gen. Smiths are good. Ive got a 59 and a 915. My understanding is the 910 and 915 are economy Smiths. The 910 more economical than 915. It has some plastic parts and lacks the lock up lug on the barrel like the 915 and other more expensive models. BUT it is an excellent gun in its own right. I like the 908, 910 and 915 because the decocker/ safety is only on the L side; makes it a little slimmer. The slide is more blocky on the 910 than other Smith models. Go on Gun Broker and look at price and condition. That will give you the best information as to $ and condition. I too think $390 is a little high.

You can find magazines all over the place and they are all interchangeable.

It is the same as the 915, just with a 10-round magazine for the 1994-2004 AWB. Any 59XX 15-round magazine will work in it.

I have owned a S&W 910 for a half dozen years now. It has chewed through ~5K rounds withough a single hiccup...everything from 125gr RNL reloads, Russian steel case FMJ's to +P+ JHPs. S&W 3rd gen pistols are great guns.

Suggest you compare from there; 910 has plastic rear sight, 915 is metal blade; 915 seems to me a little closer to XM-10 submission to military contest that gave the US army the Beretta 92. This is the historical trail; THE SW SUBMISSION WAS NOT INFERIOR IN ANY WAY TO THE BERETTA and possibly better; I like the way it handles better.
At any rate, price seems a bit high compared to 5904, 5906 (SS) or 5903 (alloy frame). I own 5903 and swear by gen 3 smiths; but think the price you mention is high compared to market for a 5904; rather hunt for a 5906.
Economy series however are reliable performers even at value prices. Suggest comparisons with Gunbroker listings at least as a price guide.
I'm shopping for a 915 top end for my 5903 at the moment FWIW. Also own 3914(single stack) and have owned 6904 I wish I'd kept. Traded for 4516 when they were new. Love the gen 3's. 457's are sleeper/keepers of value series in spite of plastic sights.
Cheers, TF
