Hey all! As many of you know, I turned 21 recently and have been looking for a 1911. I had decided on a stainless Colt, but my gunshop's usual distributor was out of the model I wanted and he was having trouble finding one. And he had the gorgeous SW1911 which was tempting me, so I bought it today. I'm now a very poor but very happy man. :)

I field stripped the SW1911 before shooting it and it took about half an hour to field strip, clean/lube, and reassemble. I'm sure it'll take less time as I go along. I was surprised at the number of maching marks and shiney areas that were visible on the internals. But it all functioned OK. The hardest part was getting the slide stop out! The darn thing just wouldn't move, I actually called the gunshop owner to make sure I was doing it right. Eventually I found out I had to move the slide a tiny bit back from where the disassembly notch lined up with the slide stop, then it popped out relatively easily. Reassembly was frustrating too, mostly again due to the slide stop. I haven't cleaned it from the range yet, I hope I can get it apart and together again faster this time.

Went out to the range with a friend and 200 rounds. The first 100 we put through were Israeli surplus FMJ, the next 100 were Winchester White Box from Walmart. The only problems were two times in the same mag of WWB the slide didn't go forward quite far enough but a little tap on the back locked it up good. Other than that it ran like a champ!

My accuracy is, to be honest, crap. All we had for targets were little 50' smallbore rifle targets and the closest line at this range was about 15 yards, so I was happy if a round hit paper. My friend Matt did better than I did. I was missing most of the time, either up and left or down and left. But it was still fun - this range trip was more for break in and to make sure nothing was wrong with the pistol.

I am happy! And I can't believe I put $45 worth of ammo through this gun in one afternoon. :what: Next step is to get a holster and take the CCW class. :D

Congrats bro, I am only 23 and I remember picking up my first gun, a 1911 Colt, the same gun I went and registered for CCW class with. It's a great feeling, and great looking gun! Enjoy and be safe.:D

Nothing finer than pictures of a new stainless 1911 receiving it's first blackening around the muzzle from a glorious day at the range!

Congrats!!!

Congrats on the new gun!! Hang in there, you'll start hitting more often with practice. The SW1911 is capable of some fine accuracy.
