I went shooting with my father yesterday. The cold weather has kept me from going out to the range. I bought an M1A just before Christmas and since the tempature got up above 50 degrees yesterday (it's currenty 25 degrees), we went shooting.

My father hasn't shot a M14 for over thirty years now, but you should have seen the smile on his face. I know why he likes the rifle so much. We went through about 250 rounds without a hitch. The only thing I don't like is the ten round mag that came with it. It's difficult to insert because you can't really grip it. Of course, I'm going have to buy some more 20 rounders since I only have two now.

I still cannot get the oprod off. :banghead: :fire: Perhaps I need to make a trip to Tennessee so runt can help me with it. I heard she's pretty proficient with it. ;)

Whenever my father will buy his own M1A, I'll have to get another picture of him holding a couple.

I used to shoot an M1A in NRA High Power Rifle matches and had fun. It is one of the most accurate rifles I have and has shot sub minute-of-angle three shot groups with target reloads at 200 yards.

A few years ago I was able to shoot an M14. That was a gas too and I didn't find the rifle as uncontrollable in full auto as I had heard it would be. Short bursts keep the muzzle from rising too much. I'd love to have an M14 to go along with my target rifle, but I live in the wrong state to own one.
