my wife has a problem with her 10/22..she is short with short arms and is unable to get her head close enough to the scope for good eye relief...i threw out a couple suggestions to her of either cutting down the stock a little "she almaost fainted" or putting a pistol scope on it...any ideas or something i have missed? thanks

What kind of mounting system do you have on the 10/22? If you have a picatinny or weaver rail you should be able to move the scope far back enough for decent eye relief.

I use the Volquartsen barrel mounted scope rail, but they make one that fits on the actual receiver using the factory holes.

One soluting is chopping the stock down to a more managable length of pull. What kind of glass is on there right now? A good scope like Leupold will generally have a longer eye relief range than a less expensive model like Simmons or Tasco.

10-22's have pretty short stocks already, so i don't think your answer is there.

i think you need to either put a scope w/ more eye relief on, or use a weaver base, and move the rings around until you can get the scope positioned where you want it. or do both.

it is a cheaper scope....but has a weaver rail....the scope at this time is moved back as far as it will go...from her holding the rifle it looks like she would need at least 10-11 inchs of relief

I thought the length of pull on a 10/22 stock wasnt much longer than 12 inches to begin with. Make sure she is getting the stock all the way into her shoulder and getting her cheek as far out as possible. If its still a problem them there are LOTS of additional stocks to put on the rifle or you can get a scope with longer relief.

It sounds as though your wife's problem is not so much with eye relief as with how she holds the gun. It is typical for neophyte shooters to arch their backs and try to put the combination of body and gun at some center of balance. An experienced shooter will "lean into" the rifle rather than to lean the head back. Maybe a course in rifle shooting is in order.
