One word: Black. It doesn't matter which type of black that it is, as long as it's black..
Ummmm,
I'll go with option #1 w/ carbon fiber grips..:D

Go with the 2-tone ghost grey, it has that different tacticallity than regular black. (Is tacticality even a word  ) plus it looks awesome.

I know, that two tone gray is pretty sweet huh??!!?
You know....
I think I'll gray out the 92G-SD since it'll have the oh so tactical accessory rail, it'll be pretty tactical to begin with.
I think I'm going to send it off to Wilson to have the Armor-Tuff on it...the new Armor-Tuff is a lot better than the last (from what I hear on the 'Net) and i want that exact gray. It looks pretty sweet.
Had this idea a while back. I was thinking of getting a gray/black 1911 with the ghost ring sights, carbon fiber, taclight, etc. etc. etc. then realized I can do it in the Beretta, which I shoot better for half the price.
For now maybe I'll get a Brignoli 92FS. It'll be a while before the 92G-SD gets here and between selling both my .45s I'll have lots of money to play with
Then when the 92G-SD comes to California...it's ghost gray time!!! REEEEHAW!!!!

I like my stainless 92FS. I didn't buy it to be tactical. I just buy guns for fun....

I was going to say black but then I saw the picture of the Ghost Gray, though without the Ghost Ring Rear sight.

Hello, shoot a fair amount with a Beretta Elite and thought by the article title that the big B had a new model 92, whoops it's a poll!
First off, anything would be an improvement over the Brunton crap and I'd visualized a brite deep blue like the old Italian 92s.
If the ceramic coatings guys ever get the bugs out of doing guns I'll redo the Elite in the deepest high polished black they got.
No offence guys but the Beretta IMO is pretty close to perfect in function w/o peep sights or other gidgets.
I do have the Elite converted to a non-hammer drop so it can be carried cocked and locked.
The stainless Monday morning barrel was swapped for a GI chromelined (from 4in to 1in improvement) and the updated locking block installed.
Wolf #17 recoil spring and a hardware o-ring for a shock buff all combine to make this a +P+ shooting machine.
PS, I hate 9midgetmeter but, the Beretta Elite sets reliability standards for me.
With 115s@1500fps, who needs a .355SIG?

I would go for Option #2, but w/o the ghost ring rear sight.

Skunk, how much is this finish? It might be worth it to have the same thing done to my Centurion

How did you do that???
10-ring, I don't know, give the Wilson shop a call. I will this afternoon if you don't....

OK now the big question is which one to use for my base gun.

The Beretta 92G Elite....
Since Beretta doesn't make a Tactical model, it might as well have the word Elite machined into the slide..

You can get it two toned? Light bottom and dark top?
And you have to ask?

Skunk, after reading all these Beretta posts...
Why don't you just apply for a job as a factory rep. at Beretta USA ?:D

No, they only come from the factory black, Inox or two-tone like the Elite series. No gray bottoms from the factory :(

The decocker now functions as a thumb safety only, a little metal is removed here and there and a new detent hole drilled.
I finally had a use for those special hardened drill bits somebody bought off a late nite infomercial and then gave to me!
BTW, beware the lightened Elite style hammers when using lighter than standard main/hammer springs. You will have light primer strikes with some available factory ammo.
Advantages of the series 92s include hicap mag availability and a proliferation of mil-spec parts all courtesy of the US taxpayers and light fingered govt employees.

I can see it now, 2 tone gray Brig in that clear kydex holster you were flashin' on another thread...SWEET! ;)

Now holsters is the problem. I really want to get a 92FS but may not fit in my Brigadier holster.
Then when I get a 92GSD that may not fit in ANY of my Beretta holsters.
I'll probably leave the 92GSD for a house gun, my 92G Elite II for a competition gun, and the 92FS for a beater/spare.

Update.
Carbon Creations used to have nickle plated or coated or whatever carbon fiber grips. THAT would have been cool, but they're out of it. No black/gray weave, so I'll get black/black for it.
Wilson won't do Beretta frames anymore. I'm going to give Robar a call. Also going to see if Ernest Langdon can do gray I know he does a black teflon and MAYBE a hard chrome finish.
Probably do a Novak sight, but I'm still tempted to experiment with the ghost ring for the heck of it. if I don't like it, I know I can always fall back on the Novak. Toying with the idea of putting a Heinie on it.

Skunk,
I thought you couldn't hard chrome the alloy frame? I know you can "show(read soft)" chrome aluminum, but I thought the hard chrome process couldn't be done on aluminum alloys/

I'd love to see the new Beretta G-SD in that 2-tone Ghost grey. That, with the ghost ring sights (any maybe just for the heck of it, some lasergrips [I really liked those with the wrap-around the front-strap, even better than Hogues]) and some nice tactical light system...
I could never shoot it for IDPA, but it would still be beautiful.:D

Actually that's what I was thinking too, I'll probably just wait for the 92G-SD. I'm thinking I have so many rounds through my competition gun (Elite II) I may as well use that for my beater too, so may skip the 92FS altogether. I'll probably put a lanyard loop on it and put the plastic grips on if I take it somewhere expecting it to get beat up?

So, how far has the stainless USPc 9 fallen in the pecking order?

I'm waiting for the P2000 to really see. I'm not a huge fan of HK's stainless material. I'll probably  (so unskunklike) buy a black one.

OK well I'm going to leave the Elite the way it is.
The question now is Elite IA or G-SD to do the gray frame?
cool45auto
December 25, 2003, 12:15 PM
G-SD, it would definitely be a one-of-a-kind right now. I would choose the two tone grey for sure. That ghost ring would take some getting used to but I'd like to try one out. If your Elite II is getting worn out just send it to me for an early retirement!:D
