Hi,
Just getting started loading a new Caliber the .223 Remington. Be shooting them from a 20" Bushmaster. Which powder is your favorite for 55 and 62 grain bullets. I am sure I missed some good ones. Write in are welcome

I have been reloading the .223 for my bushmaster for about 9 months now and have switched to MIL surplus powder due to expense. I use WC846 because I also use it for my .308. The info I found about it is that it loads like BL-C(2). I usually use a 25 grain load with a 55 grain FMJBT. I used W748 and Varget before switching to the surplus powder. These rounds are for plinking at 100 to 200 yds.

I use 26 grs. of Varget but then I use 50 gr. V-Max bullets. I currently use this in a Ruger M77 MarkII. I just got this gun and only put about 30 rounds through it. After getting it sighted in I shot a group that measured .562 five shots at 100 yards. I don't know if this will hold up or it was one of them one time things that happen to people. When the weather here in North Central Pa. warms up I'll try this load some more to see if this is a one time thing.

IMR 4198 is also an excellent powder for this cartridge.

For bullet weights 55 grains and up, I've found Varget gives the best results, ReLoder 15 coming in a close second.
For bullets under 55 grains (52 HPBT) my best groups were rounds loaded with WW 748.
YMMV

for 55gr. fmj, 19.1 gr of IMR4198 work nice
Varget for 60 gr V-Max bullets

I use IMR4198. Since it is not listed, I voted for the similar H4198. Watch-Six

I use WC846 milsurp. The loading data that it to be followed is BLC-2 when using this powder.

I also use WC846. I've used WW748, AA2520, AA2495 and Varget in the past. If price were not a consideration, I'd shoot Varget or Vihtavuori.
