Robar (http://www.robarguns.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=4&tabindex=2) has a process which is called Blackening of Stainless Steel. Has anyone done this to a stainless handgun before?
If so, pics?
Impressions??

If you want to experiment and have some stainless steel handy to test, try phosphoric acid.
I've used 'Naval Jelly' to clean stainless steel sinks. It tends to turn them a neat black-silver color if you leave it on long enough.
