I'm picking up a new P89 Ruger tomorrow and have been thinking of putting a lazer sight on it. Can I get one that mounts well on the P89,and how do they work in day and night shooting? It will be used mostly on the range. And is there a make that won't break the bank for me?

I don't think Lasermax (http://www.lasersightsusa.com/index.html) makes their internal guide-rod laser sight for the Ruger pistols. Crimson Trace (http://www.crimsontrace.com/) only make their grip-based lasers for the .22LR Ruger Mk. II pistols, not the P-series. That means you'll be limited to one of the models that you strap to the front of the trigger-guard, or (on a pistol with light rails) something like the Insight Technologies M6.

Wasn't there a Ruger P93 or P94 that had integral laser sights?

Yep...there sure was...it was a special edition available many moons ago...a buddy at a previous job let me shoot it once...it was basically a P89 with the laser mounted just ahead of the trigger guard...I once heard some stories about Ruger making it a possible option for LE sales...then came Glock and that idea got smashed...

Crimson Trace displayed a laser grip for the P89 at the SHOT show last month, but hasn't announced when it will be available.

I am planning getting one of the CT grips lasers when they are available.
