I've got a question on a model 29 JC Higgins .22 semi auto. I got the rifle with a broken disconnector, So after a bunch of shopping around I finally found a disconnector and a spring.

Well after installing the new disconnector and spring in the lower receiver (trigger mechanism) I checked the action and the hammer fell as it was supposed to. However after installing the lower receiver (trigger assembly) into the upper receiver, I'll be darned to get the hammer to fall. What am I doing wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. BTW thanks again for the help with that S&W model 1000.

1kperday, No it's not, believe me. It feels like the trigger is taking up the slack but the hammer just won't fall.

You know more about the trigger group than I do; I've never taken mine apart.

Here are some pics if it helps... I'm assuming something didn't quite get back in the right position in your case.

1Kperday, I thank ya for the photos of your rifle, the one I'm working on looks identical to those photos. I'm about to take the bolt and spring out, and reassemble that part also after close examination. I just can't figure out why when the action is out of the receiver the hammer falls freely with the new disconnector installed along with the spring. But once ya put the dang thing together the hammer won't fall. BTW the bolt slides freely along its rails with no hint of any obstruction.
