I went to get my HSC (Handgun Safety Certificate) today. Got the booklet, read it took the test (got 100% by the way) and went on my merry way.
One thing did trigger a spark in my head. Page 36 of the booklet had an interesting paragraph..."A handgun carried openly in a belt holster is not concealed within the meaning of the above prohibition [PC sect. 12.25(e)]. "
Is there some way I can work this to my advantage as far as carrying pistol in my vehicle?

Dunno what you're trying for, but most of the applicable weapons laws in car refer to a concealable weapon, without regard to whether it is actually concealed.

No. There's lots of other statutes that'll screw you. Don't even think about it. What's going on here is that Cal-DOJ doesn't want the majority of gunowners who don't track gun laws much to realize how much self defense is banned.

Jim is right.
If its visible, its "brandishing" and maybe disturbing the peace, etc.
If its concealed, its "illegal CCW".
Without a permit, you can only CCW on your property or in your business where you are the actual owner.

Jim - I guess when I get the input on my 1/2 baked idea from a true expert, it's time to just put this idea to bed...THANKS!
