I'm thinking about buying a Daniel Defense DDM4V7 LW and looking for comments from anyone that owns this AR. Thanks

I don't own one, but that is one of the few factory ARs I would purchase. It is on my wish list. Their barrels are some of the best non match barrels out. Cold hammer forged and thick chrome lining will give you years of reliable accuracy. I have used many DD parts for several builds. I think they have some of the best quality going.

I have a DD barrel and bcg on my build. You can't go wrong with them in terms of parts or a complete build

I think it would be a fine choice. I'm pleased with my DDM4V3 LW which has a similar barrel to the V7. Daniel Defense makes quality products.

You will not regret the decision.

I was eyeballing those hard before I got my Colt 6720. The only thing that made the decision for me was the price difference. Every review I could find for the DD V7LW was excellent.

is the Colt 6720 a real Colt, Cabelas was selling them cheap for about $500 less than a 6920. heard they were farmed out models.

Thanks for the info so far. I am also considering the DDM4V5 as I like the rail but still looking for comments. Thanks for your help.

The Colt 6900 is not made by Colt supposedly

Yes, the 6720 is a real Colt. It's a lightweight version of the 6920 (it has a thinner pencil barrel instead of the heavier M4 barrel). The cost is about the same as the 6920. Many of us prefer the pencil barrel, I have two myself (but not the 6720).

As already mentioned, you're probably thinking of the discontinued 6900 which isn't made by Colt. It was much cheaper than the 6920 and nowhere near as good.

I have the exact rifle and it is spot on. Light, accurate and built very well. I wish I would have bought two back when I bought it as they were priced right. That written, the trigger was the worst I have felt on the few AR's I have shot so was replaced with a Geiselle SSA-E.

What kind of accuracy are you getting out of that rifle, Box? Does the barrel heating affect group sizes? I've already talked myself into a DD. Trying to figure out if the LW barrel is the way to go.

Unless you are doing mag dump after mag dump. Accuracy is not affected enough by the heat to matter. They are not precision rifle. They are a 2 moa gun. I have a lightweight barrel on mine.

Great rifles. Mine is a superb performer. Do not expect a 1 MOA performance though. Mine is doing about 2" on average with 5 shot groups.

Either their 6920's are overpriced or that's a hell of a deal. I love my 6720 although I did add lots of upgrades. I wanted a lw pencil barrel build so I used the 6720 as my base. If I were to do it over though i'd probably go with DD or BCM so that I could get a mid length gas system.

I haven't bought a full Daniel Defense, but I built mine with a DD upper, DD Bolt and Carrier, and DD Barrel. The handguard is a FF Midwest Industries. I have never shot it with a scope, but I get ~2" groups at 50 yards and ~3"-4" groups at 100 yards with Hornady 55 grain FMJ using flip up A2 style sights. I bet with a scope and varmint/target bullets I could shoot it around 1-1.5 MOA.

I wouldn't really expect tack driving accuracy. I just don't want an AR that has trouble keeping rounds in a 6" circle at 100 yards. When I get mine, it will either wear an Aimpoint or a 1-4 power scope, so accuracy isn't critical. I do enjoy hitting what I aim at though.

Here's a review I found when I was looking. It's for the standard rather than LW, but much of the info should carry over.

Thanks for all the help. Finally decided to go with the V5 as I like the looks of the quad rail. Now have to decide on trigger replacement and brand of iron sights.

If you want fixed sights, I would buy the Daniel Defense.

I run dd fixed sights and an aimpoint pro with the riser. The dd's are hard to beat for quality and price. My v5 with light weight barrel, sights, light and mount, and a full mag weighs just a tad under 9lbs.

I have the ddm4v7lw. Love this gun. Running an Aimpoint H1, sling, x200 light, Geiselle trigger, MI sights. Weighs 7.2 (empty). Everyone that sees it or shoots it - loves it. It's light, accurate, well made - can't say enough good things about this gun. I paid $1275 a few months back. Thinking about buying another. If you want to talk - IM me and I'll give you my number. You will not regret the purchase.
