Several people have had to send them back multiple times already. Light strikes, ejector failures, etc. It appears Ruger still has some work to do. They had a few years to get version one worked out, and never did, and now version two looks like more of the same.
I am not going to pay to do Beta testing, but it does not appear to matter because it looks like a lot of other people are lining up to.
They can build excellent rifles and pistols, some with a lot more complicated action than an O/U. I wish I knew what their problem was. I am hoping they finally solve them and then re-introduce the Gold Label. I am wondering if for some reason precision investment casting just isn't lending itself to shotgun manufacturing.
If you have one and just love it to death, I am glad for you, but that doesn't change anything.

Personally, I would wait a year. I had one of the original RRL in 28 - 3 trips back to Ruger, they replaced everything and still could not fix it, so it went away.

Let others be the BETA tester for a year. If they have it right, no biggie; if they do not, then you are on the losing end of a $1000

A grand? That's all it costs? Hmm, I'll keep an eye on it. Ain't got a grand right now, anyway, not that's not spoken for trying to pay off some debt. Maybe by the time I do, they'll get the bugs out of it and I might want one...assuming I like the fit and balance. I own 8 Rugers. I've owned 3 others that I no longer own. I'm kinda a Ruger fanboy, but I have never dealt with their shotguns.

They seem to have had some teething problems in early production on new models since Ol' Bill is gone. I jumped out there and bought an early SR22. Great little pistol, but the early ones had plastic sights and mine didn't wanna stay in the dovetail groove. I never sent it back, just superglued it and it's a great little pistol, quite accurate. Some of the other pistols have had teething problems, too, but they've worked it out. Hope they can do the same for the new Red Label.
