PrecisionTargets

Well I couldn't connect to your website and couldn't get the podcast from handgunworld.com to play so how about showing us what your finished product looks like and how it works?

PrecisionTargets

We make automotive parts primarily but are thinking about entering the gun market with a few things like charging handles for the ar15 and maybe FCG's

We will be releasing a line of targets to be cut on our new waterjet also within the week to test the waters.

Welcome!

Just some friendly advice to prevent a problem. Read the commercial use policy and learn what is allowed in the forums about products and selling.

I'm not selling anything here. when that time comes ill sign up as a vendor (the monthly "fee" isnt an issue clearly, im quite frankly not selling anything so no need to pay for it right now)

Nice shop, but pictures of your product(s) would probably be more appropriate.

I'm not ready to sell on here. When I am I will sign up for a vendor account. Give me a week and I'll start posting pictures of my products.

Welcome!! Its pretty cool that youre thinking of getting into the parts industry, Ive thought about machining some stuff in the past. Got any neat ideas for charging handles and whatnot?? My favorite thing about ARs is their adaptability and customizability. Open to some ideas??

PrecisionTargets
February 3, 2014, 07:33 PM
We are actually working on a charging handle right now among targets and other goodies. We are always open to ideas!!

February 3, 2014, 07:44 PM

PrecisionTargets
February 3, 2014, 07:46 PM

Ambidextious charging handles would be cool.

SilverCat
February 3, 2014, 08:46 PM
Im always trying to think of new AR innovations. Its hard sometimes though because theres so many already made.

If your company can think create a neat new charging handle, Ill be buying it no doubt. Update us with product info when its ready!!

SilverCat
February 12, 2014, 11:24 AM
I couldn'd guess what its doing. Cleaning them??

PrecisionTargets
February 12, 2014, 11:29 AM
This is a $140,000 machine called an abrasive waterjet. It uses 50,000psi and mixes an 80grit abrasive (sand like substance) called garnet to cut the metal. This process does not heat up the metal and cause a change in the properties of the metal like plasma and laser. Makes for a much stronger target especially on the edges.

SilverCat
February 12, 2014, 12:13 PM
Man, I didn't even know we had that technology. Does it cut easily or does it take it's time??

PrecisionTargets
February 12, 2014, 12:16 PM
Cuts very easily. Its not as fast as plasma or laser but it is by far more accurate, no post processes required, the cuts are crisp without any dross or slag like plasma, also has no HAZ or heat affected zone on the edges which weakens the material and causes issues when welding.

Its a really awesome technology thats been around for a very long time!

SilverCat
February 12, 2014, 01:42 PM
That's pretty neat!! It amazes me what we have these days. And sometimes what we don't have.

February 12, 2014, 06:23 PM
Hey all.
I joined this forum around 2010 as I was selling my 50 years of collecting guns. I sold my guns due to health and financial reasons. and have not been on line here since that period.

Well , you know that life is what happens while your making other plans....... and thanks to the miracles of modern medicine. I'm still here and in damn good shape and I want to get back into shooting.
My present thinking that cowboy shooting seems to be something I can do and the targets are BIG and it looks like fun and I want to try it.
so now I am learning the nomenclature and being sorry I sold my Ruger single six ( the first gun I ever bought).

My plan is to get to Jackson NJ when the weather gets warmer and meet the SASS club shooters there, as there is nothing available here in South jersey that I can find. so I'll be lurking for a while and learning a lot
have a Happy valentines day
joe

silvercat, this machine runs 16-20 hours a day, each sheet takes 6 hours to cut 32 complete targets. Its looking like we will retail these for $45 plus shipping, they are big guys...not small and out of 3/8".

February 13, 2014, 11:09 PM
PrecisionTargets what you guys are doing is really cool, and it's even cooler that your here to talk to us about it. You'll have much more success moving your product on gun forums like this and what not so nice job. But I got to ask what made you switch to gun accessories, kind of a risky jump into a somewhat competitive field.

PrecisionTargets
February 13, 2014, 11:11 PM
We are a full service machine shop. We just purchased the waterjet and decided to jump into the target market since we own everything outright and have low overhead we can provide a super high quality product for a very good price.

SilverCat
February 14, 2014, 10:49 AM
What about the weapon accesories, such as the charging handle you mentioned??

PrecisionTargets
February 14, 2014, 10:50 AM
We will be making that stuff within a few weeks.

PrecisionTargets
February 14, 2014, 11:34 AM
New welder arrived yesterday. All of our targets will be welded not with MIG process but spray transfer. I will have weld quality pictures up fairly soon.

PrecisionTargets!! Do you know what I think would be super helpful??

The thing I want most for my SCAR-16s setup, is a B.A.D. Lever, and I really don't want to modify an AR one.

Good idea??

PrecisionTargets
February 27, 2014, 10:26 AM
lets see some pictures.... we are working with a local gunshop in a unique partnership to start selling uppers and lowers with a pretty slick design also. Lots of cool stuff in the works

ohioshooter
February 27, 2014, 10:28 AM
Hmmmm.....Looks like I can finally get some targets that I can leave on the land and not have to keep putting up posts and such. Nothing like the sound of hearing a "ding" on a shot down range.

SilverCat
February 27, 2014, 12:15 PM
So you are getting into receivers?? Awesome!!

This is a BAD lever, it lets you toggle the bolt catch with your trigger finger and lets you keep your shooting hand on the gun. Its this guy:

PrecisionTargets
February 27, 2014, 01:43 PM
we can do something like this....would you be willing to send your receiver and a magazine to an FFL 07/08 SOT that we deal with to take measurements and work on a prototype?

SilverCat
February 27, 2014, 02:00 PM
I might just be able to do so. But the lower on a SCAR is not even the registered part, and I don't even need to send it to an FFL. Ill see what I can do later today. Take a look at one of the AR ones, I absolutely love them.

As far as I know (remember, I may be wrong) there are none made for the SCAR. There are also ones that are actually a machined part of the bolt release for the AR.

Where is your shop??

PrecisionTargets
February 27, 2014, 05:00 PM
we are located in chandler, arizona

SilverCat
February 27, 2014, 05:14 PM
Very well. I can just private message you about the matter further. How long do you think it would take to cook up a prototype??
