But had it cut back to 4 inch barrel by Bowen. They will custom it as you want it. Spendy but it is sweet. FYI I have included Bowen's URL. http://www.bowenclassicarms.com. Good shooting;)

I don't understand why anyone would want a .44 magnum snubby (i.e. barrel length of UNDER 3"). Sure, a Mountain gun .44 magnum with 3-4" barrel is handy, but a snubby .44 magnum with a 2" barrel is going to recoil something fierce and most likely lose a ton of velocity. Would a .44 magnum with 2" barrel actually have enough velocity to achieve the needed energy to defend against a bear? I'm not so sure. If anyone does know, please post. I think the minimum barrel length to achieve sufficient velocity would be 4", as .44 magnum was never designed to be fired from snubbies. Its a hunting round for the most part (requiring a certain barrel length to achieve its potential), its not a CCW round. Just my opinion, of course.

dairycreek,
Did you keep the original front sight on your shortened Redhawk?
I have wanted a Redhawk .45 Colt, but I also want a 4" barrel.

Not a Redhawk snubbie but I've got a custom 29 snubbie that was given to me by a friend. No front sight at all as the barrel isn't long enough for a ramp sight. This is a purely up-close contact weapon. He carried it as a backup to his duty 29.

No I did'nt. Bowen replaced it with their own choice of sights. Works fine though. Good shooting;)

Yes it is fun to shoot, but hard to hit with, even at 7 yards on a B27.
Haven't tried any factory ammo through it yet but my cowboy handloads are terrible through it. Have to run full (or near full) power loads to get anything close to being called accurate (within the 8 ring at 7 yds).
