I looked at a Cz Rifle this past weekend and was impressed. Are there any Pros or Cons with these particular rifles??

The best bang for a buck I've seen.

I think they're great guns! The only gripe I have is that some of them come with detachable box magazines, which I don't care for on a sporting bolt gun.

Think of it as a Winchester Model 70 with a hammer forged barrel.
It's a Mauser based rifle, with all the advantages that entails.
The prettiest rifle they make? The Full stock guns ::drool:: despite what the website is listing, the weight of the CZ550 FS is less than 7lbs = 3.1KG according to the pdf manual.
visit the czech site: www.czub.cz lots of pictures of hot czech models handling the merchandise.
Detachable magazines aren't available (required) on all of their guns, you can get a CZ550 with a fixed magazine, just not in .308 (dang). I don't believe they make them in left hand configuration (dang).
Very good rifles.

No doubt the best bang for your buck in a heavy rifle... By far...If you can get used to the reverse safety. I know it would get me killed.
As the 8 tons of grey terror started forward with a shrill trumpet our intrepet hunter calmly raises his CZ550 takes aim and tries to flip the safety back noo forward no back the ...dangg trigger won't pull........AHHHHHHHH!!:what: :what: :what:
Squish.......mash......crack......gurggle.........
Anyway you get the picture.
These rifles are very popular in Africa every time I'm over there see at least one if not more in camp. They are a great value.

H&Hhunter-
The current CZ 550s no longer have bass-ackwards safeties. They're back for safe, forward for fire, just like most guns. The older BRNO 600/601/602s had the bass-ackwards safeties. For those, and even for the current guns, the best solution is probably to install a Model 70 style 3-position safety.

CZ's are excellent values. I had a 527 in .223 which shot great until the barrel heated. I still have a 452 in .22 magnum which shoots great.

H&Hhunter: I note you are a big fan of the Lott. I would love the CZ550 in that caliber. Shoot 458 Win like a 22 Short in a LR chamber. Gotta love that!

BigG,
All it would take is a CZ550 in .458 and a Lott reamer. Probably the least expensive Lott conversion going.;)
That is if they haven't shortened the action and magazine box on the 550. I know that the 600's are long enough.

I own 2 CZ 452 rimfires in 22lr and 22mag and both are great shooters. I call my 22lr - the "poor man's Anschutz" - accuracy beyond all expectations!
cratz2 - that is may favorite pic as well!

I have two CZ's, a 452 22LR and a CZ-75 9mm.
Based on their performance, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another CZ.
Now if they would just make the rifle I want in 308...:banghead:
