A new holster........

For the past three years I've been carrying my Ruger Blackhawk .44 Special (ex-.357 Magnum) Three Screw in this Mernickle PS-6SA holster:

I had a few issues with it, largely due to the fact of age. Mine, not the holster's. The holster is made for a straight-up draw, sliding alongside the rib cage. My arm doesn't ben as freely as it used to, and I ended up twisting my gun as I made my draw, which slightly bound up the gun.

I ordered a modified Tom Threepsersons holster from Craig at Graveyard Jacks Gunleather. This being the result:

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i230/BobWright/Bob%20Armed/100_7171_zpsb719e98b.jpg (http://s73.photobucket.com/user/BobWright/media/Bob%20Armed/100_7171_zpsb719e98b.jpg.html)

The holster places the gun slightly lower to ease my draw. I was concerned about the length of the holster, as my Mernickle was a trifle short. It did cover the muzzle, but anyone seated as I passed by, as in a restaurant, might see the gun muzzle. Craig assured me the holster was about 3/8" longer than the barrel, which was fine.

Now this holster may protrude below some of my jackets, as did the previous one. But it only leather that is showing, not a gun. The point is, if someone were to challenge me for carrying a gun, they would have to search me to see the gun.

And, here:

And, no, this is not a professional model in the photo.

Looks great (why I copied)..
I was wondering about the draw.

I also like your spare cartridge pocket. Do the single left in slip around while you are reloading? I expect you shove the empty case back in after loading.. I guess my fear would be, while you are reloading the pocket could tilt out and a cartridge fall out.

and why is it not burgundy like the holsters?? (just kidding) Where did you get it?

Craig does beautiful work, I can see why your so happy. As a caveat I'd love a converted OM like that. For now I'll just drool at yours though :)

When, and if, I have to reload from the carrier, I won't be worried about empty cases! I pull two at a time from it when reloading, though.

Its not oxblood (the actual color) as it came from Galco. It's a Galco 2 x 2 x 2 carrier.

Here one that's a little older:

That color name was in my head when I went to Tandy to pick up new stain.. their oxblood was RED RED RED.. on a light tan leather.. I realize each company will have their own definition of a color but man. I guess I might be getting some oxblood from Tandy to brighten up the maroon I have.

I'm going to have to figure this out.. several applications maybe??? cause that's NOT the red I was thinking of.
