CT Governors Race

I was perusing another thread (that had been locked) about a lawsuit from CT that got quashed by SCOTUS. It was an extremely frustrating thread to read (infighting aside) because it really seemed defeatist.

Whether you are a resident of CT or not, it is your obligation to help remove Gov. Malloy from office. He signed a POS bill that has no chance of saving any human life ever. It was a gun grab pure and simple. As happened in CO, an example needs to be made of Malloy.

He is up for election this year and is going to face 1 of 4 Republican challengers. They are:

State Sen. John McKinney- Represents Newtown and is the architect of the 2013 gun control bill.

State Sen Toni Barber- Voted for the above referenced bill.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton- Former member of Bloomberg's Mayors against illegal guns.

Tom Foley- Former Businessman, Ambassador to Ireland and lost to Malloy by .05% in 2010. Foley has stated he would not have signed the bill. Is he a perfect 2A candidate? Probably not, but I encourage you to look into him yourself as he is light years better than three fools above.

The latest polls state that if the election were to be held today Foley wins. All the other "GOP" clowns above get trounced by Malloy. I gave $375 to Foley's exploratory committee and I am going to give an extra $100 to his campaign.

We can sit around and complain about CT or we can band together and kick Malloy to the curb. I vote the latter. I am no longer a CT resident as I live in FL now. I am passionate about this one election as I think Malloy used one of the nations great tragedies for political gain and he needs to pay for it.

Voters in CT might have a chance of unseating Malloy. Unfortunately, MD voters have zero chance of electing a governor that is not a raving anti-gunner. There is simply no significant Republican presence in the state and all Democrats will not only line up behind Obama and Bloomberg but will try to outdo them in imposing a dictatorship on the state and the nation.

Maryland might be tricky but Malloy is widely recognized as vulnerable. Not just for his gun grab, but for his tax policy. I just think we should get him out to at least give future gun grabbers a moment of pause to consider the consequences to their political careers before signing some POS bill.

Is Malloy really vulnerable? I hope so! However, it seems that lately in Connecticut unless one is a Democrat, one's chances of getting elected are slim.

Regardless of his chances, our options are to fight to support him (Foley or if there is a better candidate) or give up. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't much like giving up. I'm not from CT but my money will be going to the best pro gun candidate that will be running. "We must hang together, gentlemen...else, we shall most assuredly hang separately." -Benjamin Franklin.

+1 Ryan. I chose Foley for a host of reasons. #1 being he is by far the most electable. I encourage the members of the board to look at all the GOP candidates. Foley is certainly not an ideal 2A candidate, but he has stated he would repeal the gun law if the legislator presented him with a bill and at a minimum not sign ANY new gun legislation.

Here is a link to the his site. I would never be arrogant or presumptuous enough to tell someone why one candidate is superior to another (I might have come awfully close in the original post in this thread though). Check out all the candidates on your own and make up your own mind. I chose Foley as he only lost by .05% last time, is the only GOP candidate polling ahead of Malloy and did not support the gun grab signed into law.

Malloy is the first Democrat to be elected as Governor in over 20 years, and he is not very popular. He is definitely vulnerable to a Republican challenger. I would get behind Foley, although he is not perfect he is a step in the right direction.

I agree- Malloy has to go. In addition to Foley as the #1 contender, State Rep. Penny Bacchiochi (R) of Stafford is running for Lt. Governor and she has made her opinion on gun control well known- "I remain firmly opposed to the law that we passed, as it violates gun possession rights established by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution". She has earned my vote, and I will also begin making monthly contributions to her election campaign.

DaBruins, Post a link to her campaign site. Once I give the max to Foley, I will send an out of state donation her way.

In case anyone thought I am blowing smoke, here is my receipt from the exploratory donation given back in November. I redacted the sensitive parts but will happy to send the original to any interested parties. My wife gave the same amount.

XXXX,

Thank you for your contribution. Your support means a great deal to me!

Tom

Rep.Penny B. Also came out against this stupid bill from day one, instead of sitting on the fence until the last minute like several others did. So thanks for "suggesting" to us in Ct how to vote. Now if we could just get them to outlaw fishing on Sundays so I would have one day per weekend to get something productive done at home!

I really wish Markley would run. I have met him (we sat down and had breakfast together once) and he's a really nice, very practical sensible guy in real life, along with being strongly pro-gun.

For the time being, I will focus on the mountain west, where I live. I donated a few times to the recall elections in Colorado. If the mountain west becomes safe for 2A rights, I'll start looking further in the country to help out. I feel sorry for those living in the NE, IL, or CA, but I plan to focus.

Recent polls came out. Foley is far and away ahead the other GOP contenders and is in a horse race with Malloy.

Malloy is very vulnerable. The only hope he has of re election is to solidly lock down the vote in the large cities. He is already working on this with the half billion dollar busway between Hartford and New Britain. Look at the news here in CT and you will see the state giving millions of dollars to companies to "encourage" them to relocate to CT cities.

Malloy is working hard to dump our tax dollars into urban areas with dense population while stripping funding from just about everything else. He is counting on handouts to buy him another term.

Just to update this, last week, or whenever it was, Martha Dean threw her hat in the ring also. Now, she doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hades of even winning a primary, but if guns are our one and only issue here, it is noteworthy that there is no candidate, probably in any state in the union, with a stronger or longer history of support for 2A. Yes I realize that's a big statement, but her credentials back that up.

That being said, if I were voting in a primary, I would not vote for her because it would basically guarantee Malloy getting reelected. There is no way she could beat him, as much I wish she could.

Maybe Martha will force Foley further right on the 2A issue. His wheelhouse seems to be economic issues but this is more of a statement on Malloy than Foley. Other governors need to see that they can't sing these garbage bills and expect to keep their office.
