I have been involved in shooting for a long time... and other vaguely remembering having read an article or two from him, I don't know who is.

There is Colt LW Commander Wiley Clapp and a Ruger GP100 Wiley Clapp.

Who is he, and whats his claim to fame?

He's a gun author, and those special edition were commissioned by TALO distributors. Essentially, Colt and Ruger only made them because TALO put up the money to have them made.

And they're darn nice guns too. I own a Colt Wiley Clapp Gov't and have shot a Ruger Wiley Clapp GP 100 and they are nicely done. Specs may not be for everyone, but I like them.

I would give my left gonad for a stainless 3" Wiley Glap GP-100.

He was a Marine platoon leader in Vietnam and a Deputy sheriff in Calif. for 20 years or so.

In addition to the above references, he also writes a lot of articles for "American Rifleman."

Before you take out the scalpel, I hope you can see what you're buying first! Here's the replacement Ruger sent me when my original one started suffering cylinder seizures. I call it the Wiley Crapp! Ruger tells me this is "normal."

The engraver was drunk...

Whoever worked the frame did it by hand with a Flat B@stard file. They did me a favor and left some burrs above the barrel too.

They filed a chicane at the 6:00 position of the forcing cone. I was told "This is normal. Some will have it and some will not." Sayeth what??

Maybe I'm asking for too much, but for close to $800, I expected a better attempt from Ruger. Perhaps the concept of a "nice" Ruger DA revolver is flawed to begin with?!

I'd ask for a higher level rep and patiently convince them yo take it back. Simply unacceptable!

boricua9mm, There is NO excuse for the lack of workmanship on your revolver!!!

I assume you did not have the chance to inspect it before you laid down your hard earned money.

You guys might have missed this, but this is a replacement revolver that Ruger sent me to "make right" on the first Wiley Crapp that failed to function.

They refused to send me a prepaid shipping label. I had to pay $30 for a transfer fee for the replacement because Ruger insisted it had to go to an FFL. At this point I have spent $116 of my own money for Ruger to correct this...and this is what they sent.

Ruger had their chance. This is getting sold down river to someone who isn't as "picky" as I am. I still want my $116 back.

No more Ruger anything for me. Two back-to-back screw ups on an expensive revolver is not a coincidence.
