Which Of Your Rifles Gets Shot Most?

My most-fired rifle used to be a Ruger 10/22 with a .920 barrel and a red, white and blue laminated stock. It has a 4-12 power Bushnell scope mounted.

Now, because it is a better rifle for .22 benchrest matches, my most-fired rifle is a Remington 541-T with the heavy barrel. The scope is a 4-16 power Tasco.

Back when I shot NRA High Power matches the rifle I shot most was my M1A.

My Anschutz 64 MPR is now my absolute favorite. I really enjoy shooting .22lr rifles. The Anny has a 10 oz two stage trigger and a five round magazine. I had a scope on it but changed to peep sights.
At 50 yards I can shoot the peeps a little better than the scope, at smallbore targets, or sillouhettes. I shoot it every week since I bought it three months ago.

I also have a custom 10/22, and a CZ 452 which are favorites as well.
Before I got the Anschutz my EAA biathalon basic was my favorite bolt .22lr.

My favorite center fire is my savage 10fp LE1 with 26" barrel in .308,
but I dont shoot the center fires nearly as much as my .22lrs.

My BRNO Model 1 (think 1950's CZ452) definately gets shot the most. I try to get out every weekend and run at least a box through it, standing slow fire.

Out of the centerfire, it's a bit tougher to nail down. I like diversity, but I guess I shoot my M1 Garand and one of my Finn M39 Mosin Nagants more than the others.

Honestly, my RWS 34 (http://www.straightshooters.com/ourtake/otr34.html). That's what I grab when I go to wander through my dad's woods or back 40.

I expect to be shooting a Mini-14 quite a bit more soon, as I work through the de-inaccurizing mods.

M1 Garand goes to the range with me (and gets shot) every time out. AR doesn't go as often, but has more rounds fired through it yearly.

AK is probably right up there two in the "total rounds" catagory.

My Yugo SKS.
Why?

It's cheap, cheap to shoot, minute of beer can, and hits as hard as a 30-30.

And if it wears out, I've got several brand new back up copies.

My favorite used to be my FN Special Police in 308. That is until I got my Serbu BFG-50. Something about that thing has me all stirred up when I hit the range.

Hummmm, I just got an M1A though. That might replace the 50 cal as my most favorite.

I think JackDRipper has it right. Which ever was last purchased!

One of my SKSs. Of the SKSs, I think I shoot my Chinese version the most because it is light and handy. The Yugo is a dream to shoot also but sometimes I don't feel like lugging a 10lb rifle to the range just to plink.

admar2,
nice rifles.

does the cut handle mount solidly?

been thinkin' bout doing it.
I can get done free at work if I decide to.

back to the topic,

the 2 that get taken to the range almost always,

my 10/22 and NEF 223 Handi rifle.

however, I've recently been bitten by the 'bolt action' bug.
ask me this question again in a couple years and I may have a different answer.

I must say that none of my guns have ever been shot. If they had, then it'd probably be damaged beyond repair... oh wait, what?

Oops. :o  ;)

The Marlin 60 probably has the AK beat, but only because I've had it longer.

Ouch! I hope you at least used a shooting jacket or something :uhoh: .

I've been shooting my VKT M39 Mosin Nagant every week for over a month now, because I found out that since I was neglecting it, my groups haven't been as consistant :( . I think I'll shoot it for this month's THR postal match, since I feel pretty good about the way I've been shooting lately.

However, I just bought a CZ452 Lux (get to pick it up on 4/10/04) and I plan on bringing that rifle with me to every range session, so it should soon take the title away from the M39 :D .

"However I've fired off 120 or so from a 1903a3 in a single day.. that's a workout."

I don't have that rifle, so perhaps the comparison isn't apt. But when I was having trouble zeroing the scope on my Russian M44 after the muzzle brake came loose, I went through six or more of the milsurp wrapped packages of 20 (the ones that come in the oversized Spam "Taliban" cans) I didn't notice much the rest of that day, but the next morning when I woke up, I felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me. I was a walking bruise for much of the rest of the week.

Pics?? Me? I'm still living in the stone age (computer wise), so it's gonna' be awhile.. think months, not days. :uhoh:

This rifle looks just like the one that I own, except mine hasn't had >>

a) the barrel chopped in length like the one shown below. My barrel is still the stock 20-ish inches in length,

b) the barrel turned down (on a lathe) to G36 specs,

c) or a muzzle brake of any kind put on it yet.. :o

Oh, and I'm running with the "G36K" forearm and not the standard '6-vent hole model' as shown in the pic..

10/22 and Yugo SKS. 10/22 is cheap. SKS is lots of fun. There's just something about C&R and other old school guns. They beat the new stuff hands down.
