Got a Knife Center sale email today.
Anyone bought one of these to play with?

Seems neat to be able to screw it on a threaded push broom handle to throw at Charging Trash in the yard!
(Little entertainment doing yard work?)

I don't like what appears to be the molded plastic ferrel, probably molded to the blade though?

Looks like a rogue male Big-Mac bag could get territorial protecting the herd of Big-Gulp cups and break it off the molded blade attachment ferrel, without half trying?

RC, I have not. Nor do I own the similar Cold Steel Bushman. However, the CS Bushman is made from a single piece of steel, which might be more to your liking. For $23 the Bushman is also even easier on your wallet. Your wallet since you should buy one and test it for us - http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CS95BUSS/Cold-Steel-Bushman-7-inch-Fixed-Blade-with-Survival-Cordura-Sheath. :D

Well, I'm not going to buy one anyway, just asking if anyone had one yet.

I have a couple of old broom handles with pointy sharpened 1/4" stainless steel rods epoxied in the ends to handle the rogue Big-Mac bags in the yard.

They also serve as fertilizer spreader 'path markers' 2-3 times a year.
That's what I made them for in the first place.

And an even heavier duty Ames True-Temper weed digger for the more aggressive blowing trash, tree roots, and pesky little dandelions.
It serves nicely as a throwing spear or club if I need a spear or club in the yard.
The things an un-breakable Beast!

I was just wondering if anyone had tried the SOG version?
And did they break it off at the plastic ferrel?

Never played with the SOG branded sticker.

I've got one of the CTK pipe spear heads and it is pretty neat, but wildly overpriced at nearly $50.

I ended up with 2 Bushman knives. It's a neat utility knife. They will indeed fit on a broom handle but I'd recommend a stronger piece of wood for a spear.

Bushman are pretty decent light choppers if you use about an 16" section of shovel handle in the socket.

Sorta southeast Asian style.

Well, I don't know about the average 2014 broom handles?
They are pretty much softwood now.

But I have some push-broom handles I saved from work years ago that are heavy hickory or oak, and I would trust them pretty far as spear handles.

They withstood a 300 pound fat lazy guy leaning on them for years before I brought them home from work!

Walmart sells something like that, I don't remember the brand but it looked like it was solid steel. Maybe it was the SOG version though.

I imagine myself putting a hole in my truck with a poorly aimed throw at a feral big mac wrapper.

RCMODEL,

That long handle dandelion weeder is fierce. I browsed a bit, and found this bean hook (sharpened on both sides). http://www.amestruetemper.com/products/detail.aspx?ProductId=1565&LineId=48 Heat up that end and straighten out the bend and you have an amazing harpoon.

I picked up a 3 piece set of harpoon knifes (with paracord and a sheath) from BudK for $13. http://www.budk.com/product/3-Pack-Survival-Harpoon-Knives-and-Sheath/159734.uts? Joined to one of those Ames handles, would make a great survival hunting / fishing tool.
