Is anyone interested in a Bakersfield/Kern County/San Joaquin Valley shoot? Maybe meet at 5-Dogs on a weekend. I would have loved to go to the Bay Area shoot, but I couldn't get a ride.

BUMP. We really need to do this....I know we have a lot of Bakersfield people- of the top of my head I can think of Duke of Lawnchair, Andrew Wyatt, Dave 3006, myself, y otros.

I'll be down for a Bakersfield shoot.

My girlfriend and I reside in the snazzy-whiz-bang town of Ridgecrest.

Bakersfield is a stone's throw away.

SLO isn't a stone's throw away but we'd use anything as an excuse to visit our old stomping grounds (went to school in SLO).

I just came back from the official So Cal GlockTalk meet/match at Raauhages. We had a total of 14 members and everyone had a terrific time. Are THR people real shooters or just whiny ass computer geeks?

BTW, out of the 14, only 2 were White; the rest was of the master race - Asian Persuasion ;) :D :D :D

You guys do know that July 3rd is one day away from July 4th, which is a National Holiday.

Usually, National Holidays are for backyard bbqs with friends and family...
On the other hand, John Adams did have this to say about 4th of July
"I am apt to believe that this day will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore."

BUT

July 3rd is not July 4th. :D

BBQ, friends and family will be enjoyed on the 4th.

In the meantime, the 3rd will be spent at the range.

C'mon, let's go!

July 3rd is one day away from July 4th

The match typically ends by noon, you'll have plenty of time to go buy hotdogs and buns for the next day's festivities.

The combat chess match is going to be held July 10th at The Desert Marksman Range near Lancaster. We will start shooting around 9am. If any body needs directions to the range or any other info just PM. me.

you don't have to do the chess part if you don't want to. you can just shoot stuff.

SanduneCC
June 15, 2004, 07:20 PM
What is combat chess?

Andrew Wyatt
June 15, 2004, 07:54 PM
I's like normal chess, except it's got shooting in it.

the participants are divided into two teams, and each team has one participant playing the part of each chess piece, and one person actually playing the chess.

whenever pieces interact, (one is going to take another one) the action is resolved in a man vs man string of fire, so you get a situation where pawns take can take queens in self defense, and what haveyou.

Andrew Wyatt
June 15, 2004, 08:55 PM
just to clarify, there is no shooting at people. there identical target arrays and each participant does their string of fire on the arrays. the first one done's piece takes the loser's piece.

Average Guy
June 15, 2004, 09:11 PM
As long as someone else handles the strategy, I'll handle the killin'.

Hmmmm

I'm at a crossroads and have to choose.

The soon-to-be-misses and I have been on the road nearly every weekend since May 21st.

It'll either be July 3rd's IPSC, or the 10th's Combat Chess.

I can't sell out a fellow Ridgecrestian, so it'll be the 3rd.

HS/LC for life!

Well, I'm going to the combat chess thing at desert marksman in lancaster on the 10th. You are all invited.

It's like normal chess, except it's got shooting in it. The participants are divided into two teams, and each team has one participant playing the part of each chess piece, and one person actually playing the chess. Holy moly. Why was I thinking it was chess at 5 Dogs? All this talk...so confused...

OK, I've already committed to combat chess with the Wyatts on the 10th in Lancaster, so that's where I'll be. Sorry for the confusion. But I'm still down for Bakersfield shootage in the near future.
