This is embarrassing...

I am now the proud owner of a Kahr E9. That is not the embarrassing part.

As any good gun owner would do, I have taken it apart to inspect, clean, and lube it and to get familiar with it in general before I shoot it.

Now, I can't get it back together.

As I was putting the slide back on it locked up. Tight. I can push the slide in either direction but only about an eighth of an inch.

So, what is the solution? I think there is a thread here about a similar situation, but I can't find it.

I knew I should have bought the Springfield:D

Solved it.

A little vertical shaking while working the slide seemed to help.

I think it hung-up on the ejector. Next time I'll do like the instructions say and push down the ejector before putting on the slide.

I had something similar happen when I first tore down my K9 in '96. Instead of taking it to a gunsmith (see, that really would have been embarrassing), I simply pulled the trigger while pulling the slide forward, the pistol dry-fired and off the slide came. It's never happened since and it didn't hurt the pistol any... so I declared it "problem solved" as well.

Glad you got your Kahr back together in short order.

Yes, I always pull the trigger as I take the slide off and on and it works fine. Now getting the slide stop out is another matter! My technique is: 3 hands and a gunsmith hammer-cept I only got 2 hands.:p

and I had the same problem.

REmove the take down pin again and hold the gun up to a light. As you extend the slide off the frame, watch to see the breech loop (if that is what it is called) as it passes the hole you are viewing.

What you need to do is insert the take down pin into the hole, once that is done, pull the slide back to where the notch lines up with frame and seat the pin in fully. That should do it...

It that's the problem...

Good luck.

Thanks for the info, but I never made it to the step of putting in the take down pin/slide stop. The slide locked up with about a half inch of the slide forward of the barrel.

Anyway, it's all fixed now. And just to make sure I can do it, I disassembled then reassembled it a few times.

Now to get out and shoot it.:D
