If you have a Colt Gov 380, can you please check under your ejection port and tell me if yours has the rollmark that says "Government Model".

My original does not, but the top end I bought does so I am trying to figure out if it is younger or older. My guess is the rollmark goes on the older guns.

These are the type of guns I am asking about.

Here is the gun and the top end for storage.

Mine was made in 1981 (first year I believe) and has the Government Model rollmark under the ejection port.

That is kind of what I would have guessed. Early guns have it, and older ones (mine is a 95 I believe) don't. Now the question is when was it dropped.

Mine, a stainless model, has the written:
COLT'S PT. FA.. MFG. CO.
HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.
in the frame. No written in the slide under the ejection port.

It was purchased new by my father in 1993 here in Italy. I don't know the date of production but could be easily 1992.
