Share pictures and details of your precision rifle.

I searched and we have a few of these threads, but many of the pictures are missing and the threads are inactive, so I thought I'd start a new one.

I'll get it started. I've had this rifle for a few years, but have only recently gotten a decent scope and started load development for it.

Remington SPS Tactical .223

Leupold VX-2 6-18x40
EGW bolt knob
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg214/v8stang289/spstact3_zps71525a9b.jpg

I tested a few different work up loads but this one seems the most promising at the moment. Only 3 shots at 100 but looking ok, the squares are 1"
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg214/v8stang289/target_zps6c78ed4f.jpg

It unfortunately is now subject to remington's trigger recall, and I'm trying to decide what to do.

300 WinMag built off of a trued and blueprinted Remington 700 action. It has a side bolt release, custom bolt knob, 24" Kreiger SS match barrel, custom built muzzle brake, Timney trigger set at 12 ounces. It also has a Harris BRM-S bipod (not pictured) with LaRue mount, Near scope base, NightForce ATACR scope with NightForce 34mm steel rings, Manners T5-A chassis and other details I am forgetting at the moment. The rifle is far more accurate than my shooting skills.

V8stang, just put a new trigger in. That's what I did. a little over $100 for a Timney trigger and they are very easy to install yourself. Here is my Rem 700 AAC-SD in 308. Bell & Carlson A5 medalist stock, Precision armament M41 muzzle brake, timney trigger set at 2lbs, KRG bolt knob, Harris S-BRM 6-9 bipod, Millett LRS-1 6-25x56, and Wyatts detachable mag. So far it is shooting .5" at 100yards with 175 SMK's

WOA SPR upper - 18" SS barrel w/ 1/7 twist; scope is a Vortex PST 2.5-10x. Other items include a Giessele DMR trigger; PRI 3rd Gen foreend tube; ACC blackout FH; BF gear padded sling; Harris bipod w/ custom Schuster lock lever; and CTR stock w/ LaRue RISR cheekpiece, as used by S.F. operators everywhere ... ;)

http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo166/agtman/TDI2014-7.jpg (http://s372.photobucket.com/user/agtman/media/TDI2014-7.jpg.html)

Ammo used was Norma's 77gn Match .223. Wasn't a high round-count course, but I shot about 380-rds while also shooting a second rifle. Pic below shows the 4" black square on my 400yd target: 3-shots in the black; 4 hits inside 3.5". Do the MOA :D .

This is my M91/30 Mosin Nagant rifle with accouterments. This is an extremely accurate example and serves as my precision/long range interdiction weapon. I am looking to upgrade it with a LER/pistol scope in the near future.

http://s1.postimg.org/ru66esxrj/mosinjpeg.jpg

Might not be your idea of a precision rifle, but this thing hits to POA and it's what I use it for. Mosin Nagant rifles are still used all over the world in the roll of an ersatz sniper rifle even to this day. This is mainly due to the wide availability of the rifle and it's 7.62x54mmR ammunition, but it remains an effective and dangerous weapon even if not as accurate as some options.

I have put together a few precision rifles but the one I am most proud of is my 6mmBR. It is based on a Savage intermediate single shot "J" action. It has been trued and timed and has a Sav-2 trigger set at 6 ounces. A select match Shilen bull 26" barrel. Fully adjustable butt plate and cheek rest. All aluminum and stainless polished to a mirror finish. The stock was carved out by me using a hand router and rasp/sandpaper from a laminate blank. It as my first ever stock that I carved out from scratch. Put quite a few hours into the stock and then coated it with ten coats of automotive clear polished to a mirror. Color and gloss is a little flashy, but hey if you are going to be a bear be a Grizzly! Bedding with Devcon Steel and custom aluminum pillars. Really happy with the way it turned out but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet!!! To busy lately with my new 6.5 CM build and casting bullets for a 45-70 and working up a load.

Self built CZ455 trainer. It started as a synthetic American model.

I inletted, pillar and glass bedded the Boyd's Tacticool stock. Did the urban digital in Duracoat. Added weight to the butt to help with balance.

Cut the barrel back a 1/2 inch re-crowned and threaded the muzzle 1/2x28 and made a thread protector.

Cerakoted the barreled action in Sniper Gray, did some custom bolt work and coated it Graphite Black.

Reworked and shimmed the trigger to remove creep and weight. The poundage is still right at 3 lbs but breaks nicely now.

Added a US Optics SN-3 Tpal 3.2x17 in Badger rings sitting atop a DIP 25 moa rail. I can stretch this rig out to 400 yards by dialing in with this combination.

Suppressed with a AAC Prodigy

Finding target ammo to feed it is a bit tough though but it has shot in the .1's at 50 yards with Eley Match Rifle with 5 shot groups.

All in all I am pleased with they way it turned out and how it shoots. With bipod it tips the scales at 13lbs 1oz

Trent that SCAR is a beauty too, damn I like that.

I need to do a new set of standalone pictures for it. I've discarded the factory folding stock and put on a Troy Industries EMOD. Took a custom adapter to pull it off (SCAR has no buffer tube...)

The cheekweld on the original stock really sucked.. and the folding components pinched my cheek and bruised my cheekbone under recoil. I can also weight the new stock to balance it better.

Only real pic I have of the new setup.

http://i.imgur.com/LTsdtZ6h.jpg

I did a practice run on it and only shot a 152/200 in midrange prone (sling, not bipod). Forgot to set parallax on my damn scope and put down a group centered in the 8 ring... sigh. Got in a hurry and made a rookie mistake. :)

Eyes are too crappy for irons right now, need a new eyeglass prescription. Been 4 years since I've had them updated.

The rifle is capable of putting down some pretty spectacular groups. Very first handload was sub MOA, haven't done full ladder testing yet to find one that it really likes. Shortage of match grade 308 components kind of held up the show on development last year.

This isn't my rifle, but it belongs to a good friend that owns the land where I shoot.
National Match M1A, SS 10x with side focus on a Sadlak mount. I got to shoot it today at 100 and 300 yards and it is sweet. 3 shots at 300 were right at 2".

I also shot the SPS Tactical at 300 yards for the first time today. It did pretty well. I made a ballistics table last week based on my chrono readings and bullet info plugged into a ballistics calculator. When I dialed in what it said at 300, it was right on. So that was pretty cool. Shooting right at 3" at 300, but judging by the groups shape it could probably do better, just user error.

This is my latest rifle. It's an Accuracy International AX-260, wearing a 3-20x S&B. Great rifle so far, but still learning it and tweaking loads at this point. It's currently at the shop getting the barrel threaded for the suppressor I've been waiting on (and will probably be continuing to wait on for quite some time):

This is my other favorite rifle, and also represents the best value I've EVER found in a precision rifle. It's a Tikka T3 Scout CTR, .308 Win. It's an $800 rifle with a $300 scope, and it just simply shoots lights-out any time I do what I'm supposed to do. It's on my "I'll never sell" list:

My 30BR built on a Stiller Diamondback action, 3-groove Lilja barrel, and Mcmillan Edge stock. With BIB 118's and H4198 it is an amazing rifle to shoot. Lately with the shortage I've been burning N133 and using Speer 125 TNT's, and it is still a blast.

This is my Savage 12 LRPV in .223. It is the right bolt, left port and it does have the Target AccuTrigger and action. The one photo shows the distinctive red trigger that indicates the much superior target action. It is adjustable down to 6 oz. on the trigger pull. It also has a H-S Precision stock among other nice stuff. That stock came with the rifle. I have a Weaver T-36 scope on it.

I've mostly shot this rifle at longer distances. There's a 500 yard range at the club I belonged to before I had to move. I shot there most of the time. So I don't really have a lot of targets to post. I just know I could hit objects that were 5" or smaller on a regular basis. Sometimes I shot groups that were not more than an inch but that was rare.

I did take the rifle out shooting yesterday but I forgot my sand bags so I was shooting off of an old blanket folded up and sitting on top of a shoe box. Needless to say it wasn't exactly a stable support. I still managed to shoot pretty well most of the time. I only shot about 50 rounds because I've had some pretty serious health issues and that was all I could take. I really wan't shooting very well after about 30 rounds. I managed several 1" groups up to that point using PMC off the shelf ammo. So trust me this rifle will do better than this group that I shot. I had one flyer IMO or I would have had a group of about .34". I ended up with a .617" group, which isn't bad I guess but the rifle will do better. I'm out of practice and conditions just weren't ideal by any means.

Anyway here's a couple of photos and the one group I shot yesterday. It's the only one I took a photo of but I hope to be getting out to the range more often now that my health is improving a bit.

Building/collecting precision rifles and photography are my two main hobbies. I certainly try to do my best when it comes to taking/posting decent quality pictures on the net but that's just me. It's not hard it just takes a little time and effort as I know you experienced when taking yours. BRAVO to you for those as they are are excellent! It never ceases to amaze me how many folk have their feet in the frame or of a messy area included. Ahhhhh it just erks me but then again that's just the way I am wired. I certainly don't want to shun people away from posting pics or make it a contest. It's up to the individual what they are happy and content with in the end because we are all different in many ways.

That little CZ is my latest build and its 99% done so I did some shots. I recently had some health issues that knocked me out of commission for nearly a month. Confined to my home I took some more pictures of that build yesterday, so here in one I liked. Hopefully in a few days I will be able to start another project, a Kimber 82G.

That would be a Schutzen rifle used mostly in competitions where off hand shooting was the rule. These guns mostly came from the Suhl region of Germany and they were a fixture among German and Austrian shooters. There were a lot of competitions among German descendants in the US using these rifles up until the World Wars put a dent in all things connected to German culture here.

Some of these rifles are worth a whole bunch of money. The more ornate the scroll work the more they are worth as a general rule. I had a similar rifle in my safe all through the winter not this year but last year. The one I was storing for my landlord wasn't as nice as the one here but it is a very nice rifle. It's chambered in .22 Hornet and I did get to shoot it. Very accurate. Here's a photo of that rifle. This one is actually a stalking rifle I believe which was a hunting version of the same rifle for the most part. Most of these rifles shared an action along with barrels and stock designs and also trigger guard designs etc.. Some were made for royalty and others were made for common folk but all of them are pretty expensive. Some are north of $50k though.

I like the photography of a lot of the shots posted here actually. People spend a lot more time thinking about such things now than they once did. With the advent of cheap DSLR cameras (compared to what it used to cost to take good photos) I think we see lots of good images. I admit I don't take the time to get things perfect for my shots I post here but I think I can take a decent shot when I want to. It's all about composition and light with the contrast and the exposure set right. It's so much easier than when I first learned photography back before cameras came with auto-exposure settings. We used light meters and what we remembered from the shots we took before to get things right. But we did learn composition too. But here I just like to post an image of the subject and not try to get it perfect. It's good to see people do it right though. I love good photography. I'm just too lazy to do it most of the time. :) I do put some time into these things once in a while. I did with this shot and this rifle definitely qualifies as accurate too. The image probably seems a little busy but I wanted it to. I see that rifle as a tool not a lot different from all the other tools I have around the house. It does a job just like the firewood and gloves do.

Here is my contribution. Did not have a 100 yard range available, only 25. But at 25 yards, my modified 10/22 would shoot 5 round, 1/2 MOA groups all day long.

Ruger 10/22 action, Green Mountain heavy taper barrel, Kidd 1 stage trigger, Boyd stock (painted)
5 shots

Working down the calibers of a few of my precision rigs. I'd actually love to jump on a Sharps or similar 45-70 or 45-110 one day. Love precision stuff and odd/old stuff.

Sako TRG-22 .308 running Hensoldt glass.

Anschutz Superair 2001 10m .177 cal air rifle. People laugh at air rifles, but center ring is 0.200" diameter, pellets are 0.177" diameter. Not much room for error

Pb when you shoot slung in prone, people often manage to stick their muzzles in the dirt when coming out of position. I suspect that is one of several similar devices that protect the crowns of match rifles

Btw nice shooting cesium!

sure it isn't a hinged lid that keeps snow from going down the muzzle?

that or a special antenna for the 5 mhz illuminati band

Edit. You could be right there. On closer look it does appear to be built into the sight mount.

It is a snow cap indeed. The cap also covers the muzzle end of the front aperture. You cannot see through the sight unless the cap has been pushed forward. There is also a smaller snow cap on the muzzle side of the rear sight to keep snow from collecting there during a race in a snow squall. You can see a bit of it just in front of and below the elevation knob.

some nice rifles guys! This is my most recent acquisition. A Tac21Chassis mounted on a RemXCR Tactical, factory barrelled action.

This was the first group fired from this Chassis (7 rounds). It suggests a good future in shooting! Now to stretch her out to & past 1000 yards to see what it can do! Hopefully it shoots as well as the factory stock did at extended distances.

Cesiumsponge, that's a nice 10/22. Looks just like the WA 2000 with a few minor differences. You don't see much mentioned about them.
