I've had a Scattergun Tech tube extension on my 870 for a number of years (before Wilson bought them). There is a permanent ring forward of the tube nut, and in between the nut and the ring is where the sling mount is.

There is a lot of slop in the fit, so the sling mount moves around, rattles and is noisy.

I've seen other extensions where the sling mount is goes on before and is secured by the tube nut, eliminating the problem.

Surely Scattergun Tech thought this through... what am I missing?

I've got the same extension and know exacrly of what you speak. I took some of that tool dip that is rubberized and a small brush and painted the groove with it, and a couple wraps of electrical tape for the slot where your sling clips onto the mount. Silent.

I got it refinished recently with powdercoating so the finishes would match and that stuff is thick enough to take the slop out of it while at the same time lets the nut/tube spin for removal, so I didn't need to paint it again.

Just some thoughts.
