I see some (mostly old) ads touting this gun: COLT COMPETITION EXPERT CRE-16GT .223 Rem / 5.56 AR-15 Rifle Stainless 16 in 30 Round Geissele Trigger

There is no mention of it on any "Colt" site.

Can anyone fill me in on the merits of this missing link?
Are they still making them? Is it something old or new?

These rifles are made by Colt Competition: http://www.coltcompetitionrifle.com. Great rifles. I shoot a CRP-18.

I knew the basic "google" info. I was wondering why they do not show up in Colt's official offerings now. Was it a one time run sort of thing. Only a very few seem to be available. Cheaper Than Dirt say "no longer available."

Seeking the story behind the story here not just specs.

Not sure about this model but colt let some manufacturer in Kentucky build a few different models and use there logo but the didn't sell very good and were discontinued. Look up the colt 6900 for more of the story

They have it on a coltcompetitionrifle.com web page, separate from their Colt Defense and other pages.

Colt Competition is a licensee of Colt by Bolt Ideas. The guy that runs Colt Competition is formerly of Warne Mounts. Clint Upchurch shoots the CRP Pro. In the most recent photo of Maggie Reese, she is also shooting a CRP Pro and not the 6920.
