Any forum members ever buy or carry the Sheepdog Woodworks wood baton?
The website looks impressive. It's a custom/one man shop so delivery of these impact weapons takes several weeks/months but the prices aren't super high compared to ASP or PR-24 type batons. $89-110.00 USD range(05/08/2014 prices).
A recent gun press magazine for law enforcement/armed professionals stated more cops are moving back to traditional wood type batons over the expanding/collapsible versions(ASP).
I have not packed a baton since the early 1990s, as a lower enlisted MP, so I'm a bit out of the game.
A high end wood night-stick or "billy club" wouldn't hurt to carry on some security posts. It's not ideal but could be used in limited conditions that may require "less lethal" force.
The magazine article listed a few other popular LE designs but the "Sheepdog" model looks decent for most uses.
