Anybody know, or know where I can find out, what top punch to use for Lee moulds? I have a Lee 38 caliber 158g RNFP mould and a 40 caliber 145g SWC mould and I canít find a top punch that works satisfactorily. That is without damaging the bullet.
Any help would be appreciated.

I know that Lee uses a bottom punch to avoid that. Will RCBS make you a custom punch if you supply a handful of the bullets you use? I would email them and ask. A local machinist with a lathe would be able to make/modify a punch I bet as well. I have never needed to do this BTW so someone with actual experience getting a punch might have a better answer..

I've started using an inverted 1/4" bolt. I turned the face/top of the head smooth. I do this because it aids in better aligning the bullet in the sizing die rather than hold the bullet in one spot like a top punch tends to do.

Take a top punch that is oversize for your bullet and make it a custom fit with epoxy such as Acraglas Gel. Coat the bullet with release agent, degrease and rough up the inside of the top punch and carefully put them together, using the lubrisizer to hold alignment.
