Has anyone tried any of these out? They have them for about 20 bucks, bolt to your tirgger guard and have a pressure switch. They look fun to plink around with, but I don't think I'd trust my life to one...

I've tried several of the "clip on" type and they all have all been a waste of money, both for the laser and the ammo.
I've got Crimson Trace lasers on three guns, a Kimber, S&W Model 10 and a S&W Model 60.
They are pretty expensive but they do the job.

Looked at ''Centerfire Systems'' flier today ... and as usual they have these advertized. IMO TOTAL waste of $$$'s. How in heck these can be anything like useful I don't know!!
I have CT's on SP-101 and M28-2 ... and a third on the way for a 629 .... awful expensive but .. they WORK! I really don't think laser sighting systems are worth squat unless you pay money for the best ... and so far CT's have it.:)

My buddy purchased some from Ebay. We tried them on several differant guns. It was the biggest waste of $40 I have ever seen. I think he ended up getting mad and throwing the setup into the woords minus the gun of course.

i priced a lasermax internal laser for a g-19 and they wanted 300 for it :what: i only paid 500 for the gun so it was hard to justify for me.
but in america if you want the best you gotta pay for it

Those of us that don't have perfect 20/20 nightvision can probably find a use for a laser in on a home defense gun. Or will you kindly ask the home invader to postpone his nefarious plans for 2 minutes while you put in your contact lenses?
All the cheapo lasers I've tried were crap, never would stay on the point of impact even at 10 yards. I got a Streamlight M6 now. :p

All the cheapo lasers I've tried were crap Which is what you should expect.
Cheapo scopes are crap. As are cheapo binoculars. Flashlights, holsters, etc, etc. You do get what you pay for.
Good lasers, such as the Crimson Trace Laser grips are very very good.
You can't appreciate how good until you try them. I was once a sceptic too. Until I tried a set.
I am also a big fan of SureFire flashlights and similar units. But, a SureFire will show you what you are shooting while a laser where show you where you are shooting. Only you can decide with which you need more assistance.
Food for thought though, you can carry a flashlight in one hand separate from the gun. In many cases in would be more prudent to have the light pointing someplace the gun wasn't. I wouldn't want my only light to be on my weapon. I wouldn't want to be covering one burglar and then realize that there was someone or something else lurking in the darkness.
My unsolicited advice would be have a flashlight in one hand and your laser sighted handgun in the other. The best of both worlds.
My idea of confidence is a SureFire in the BG's eyes with a Crimson Trace on his sternum. Yes you can see both. Even without your contacts in.

I hope the BG that comes around my place at night is as ill informed.
The last thing he will see is a half second flash of Red.:)

The last thing he will see is a half second flash of Red Followed by a brief .... very brief .. awareness of Orange light!! :) ... as everything goes to black!
My third set of CT's arrived yesterday .. and are now residing on the 629 ... a small amount of final adjustment and they will be good to go. Amazing devices.
I would add .. and I ain't no looney! At around $200 a pop with the shipping .. these things would have to be good .. surely! Otherwise that cash would go towards new guns! I do not feel the investment to be misplaced ... one bit.

I agree P95Carry, for the price they had better be good.
And like you, with 3 on guns now, I sure wish CT would make them for several other guns, especially the Makarov.
:D The laser would cost twice as much as the gun.

The laser would cost twice as much as the gun. Hehehe .. ain't that a fact M2. Wouldn't mind grips for the Mak myself .. but maybe if they were available we'd have to say ....
''I'm gonna go get a Mak to fit to my CT grips''!! .... gets the costing a better ways round!:D

Even cheapo lasers have their uses:
For dry presentation drills they can give a good idea of where you're aiming from a rapid draw. Of course, some cheapo lasers are more securely mounted and more workably zeroed than others. They can also honestly show you if your trigger pull is steady or if the muzzle twitches as you pull.
When you're done dry-drilling, simply put the cheapo laser away.

Have CT on Taurus 85 and love it, wife does too. I only have 1 complaint on the CT's. They don't make one for Taurus 617, Taurus PT 92, Dan Wesson 715 or E.E.A. Witness. :cuss: Oh well maybe if I keep sending them e-mails, someday.
