Was cruisin' one of the local gunstores last night, not intending to look at SGs but just happened to notice a used but nice-looking Mossberg 500A. About a 20" barrel (didn't have a tape-measure OR my calibrated eye-balls with me), extended mag tube out to the end of the barrel, plain black synthetic furniture, basic bead sight. For $200. Why do I see these things when I don't need anything more for my collection?

Any comments on these?

I have one of those; Yes a 20" Barrel. It will hold 7 in the tube and 1 in the chamber (8 Shot) Mossberg also makes a vent rib barrel and a rifle sighted barrel that will fit the long tube. Good dependable gun that is pretty much ready to go for a HD gun.
I may have to try mine in some Bowling pin matches this summer :eek:
The price is Ok, but I might try to get them to come down a little.

If I have the right one in mind, that particular Mossy model MSRP is about $350.

So, $200 is a decent, if not smashingly great price for a "slightly used" Mossy. Might haggle a bit for some extras, say some ammo. But overall, not a bad deal

big 5 sells them for 219 new out the door when they have them on sale. (that's how i got mine)
