Yes, the lead removal cloths work quite well. I carried a S&W Model 66 (it's stainless) for duty for years and I used either those cloths, or simply scrubbed the heck out of the cylinder front with a copper brush. not the sides of course, but the front. It looks just fine after years of cleaning. I always found that regular solvent wiped the cylinder flutes clean.
