AWB shotgun question

I have been looking at the Saiga shotguns as of late. I would like to buy one but I was also wondering why someone hasn't started to manufacture 10 round mags for them? would they just be to hard to make so that they would be reliable or is it a legal issue? is there something that defines these guns as a street sweeper once they have more than so many rounds in the magazine? just wondering.

The wording on evil shotgun features is confusing. One feature is a detachable magazine, while another is a *fixed* magazine of more than five rounds. No one is sure if an attached detachable magazine counts as a fixed magazine or not. Thus, its commonly accepted to stick with 5 or less rounds in a detachable magazine for the time being.

Once the AW ban dies, you'll probably start seeing some after market magazines >10 rounds turning up on the market.

If 10 round mags show up for Saigas, then I'll have to add a couple of Saigas to my post AWB Sunset shopping list.
Heck, I'll have to get a 12 gauge for me and a 20 gauge for she.
Yee-haw, indeed.

Magazines of greater than 5 rounds, less than 10 rounds do currently exist. However they are almost impossible to find because the distributors are scared of ticking off the ATF. The way the law reads the 8 round magazines are in fact legal, however noboby wants to get busted if the ATF makes an interpretive ruling that they are not.
Also none of the dealers want to push hard on the Saigas, because they could very easily be declared destructive devices like the USAS or street sweepers.
So our best bet is to just shut up and wait for September.

Ok, I have to ask: will the sunset of the AWB change the status of the Street Sweeper?

The USAS 12 and the Street Sweaper are now considered destructive devices by the ATF; they're in the same category as RPGs, landmines, Stinger Missiles, etc. A definition for DD is something that has a bore over .50- but, an exception is made for guns that fit a "sporting purpose". The ATF decided that because the USAS 12 and SS had bores that were .70, and that they didn't serve any "sporting purpose" that they should be regulated as destructive devices. BS? You bet it is.

I think the addition of a 8 round mag on the saiga renders them "unsporting" and thus unimportable according to the ATF. So I guess maybe the distributor doesn't want the 8 rounders available, because they don't want the import of the saiga banned. Maybe???

Ahhh - but Correia has proven their "sporting use" time and time again. I can think of no finer sport than 3-gun! :D

kotengu:
The ATF does not consider use in gun games or marksmanship events to be sporting; in their esteemed opinion, only shooting animals is sporting.

JK Kharn - just a slight jab at the "sporting purpose" clause of the silly ATF.....
