As the title states I have a adjustable objective scope installed on HIGH 1'' steel Weaver rings. The adjustment ring will rub the barrel if installed with out shims.

I made a temporary shim out of a soda can and the objective is VIRTUALLY that distance off the barrel now.

It's an old style 110 Savage rifle (round front milled back) with Weaver one piece base. Weaver 40/44 scope. The barrel is FULL shank out 8'' past the receiver.

So I was thinking- Would the Burris Zee posi-align system work for raising the objective end of the scope with out binding the tube? Or is there a thicker picatinny style base to be found? OR would Xtra-high rings be a better option?

Does the alignment insret bushings in the Burris work for elevation and windage?

EGW makes a variety of bases. You might be able to find a taller one there.

Then there are extra high scope rings.

The simple solution is to use a proper base shim to replace the soda can shim. Those are available from Brownells and are designed to fit under the base. They are available in several different thicknesses. Couple different choices depending on just how thick (or thin) you need -

Shim the whole mount with proper shim stock.

You can't just raise one end or you will likely run out of scope adjustment sighting it in.
Shimming the whole mount doesn't change anything except the barrel clearance.

I ain't a big fan of shims so I'll see about extra high rings.

Possibly I can find the height dimention on some of those bases. The Weaver has a fairly low profile.

I was hoping some one might have some info on the Burris setup. That will be too much like having my cake and eating it too.

Thanks Bill and R.C.

I had a problem with 50mm objective on a Savage 111 and ended up using these from Millett. They might get you some more space off the barrel. http://www.millettsights.com/tactical-hardware/ar15-flat-top-rings/

Midway has EGW tactical bases on sale and some research says they'll be .4-.45" along with my .42" bases I think it may be good.
